Blurry vision from staring at display to long?

I hope I posted in the right Forum, If I didn't sorry, and possibly fix it? Thanks tongue.gif. I guess it has to do with displays. Anyway. If you stare at a screen long enough will your vision blur? (I'm guessing yes). I've been on my laptop often this week and staring at my screen for long periods of time. I mean gaming for 5 hours and then going on OCN for 3 hours straight. I have bad eyes already, but now I can't even concentrate on text and everything seems foggy. Has this happen to any of you before and will your vision return back to normal?

Again sorry if I posted in the wrong Forum tongue.gif

You should take a break once in a while. Give your eyes some rest.

I'm far sighted and my mom is an optomitrist)sp. And I just got my eyes tested and I have reading glasses but I forgot them at home and I regret it. Good luck though. smile.gif

If you feel like spending money, you could try some of the Gunnar OPTIKS glasses. They are specifically made for people that use computers heavily and are supposed to make staring at a monitor not so hard on your eyes. I don't know how well they work, though.

i believe it has to do with your eyes being focused at one distance for too long. Our eyes are made to refocus constantly and I think it strains them by staring at the screen for hours. But I may be wrong.

I have glasses, I forgot them at home. I just really began to notice my vision really crapping out to the point where my broswer zoom is at 300%. tongue.gif How long will the blurryness last? Cause I noticed it yesterday but it just got worse. frown.gif

That sounds about right. I'm just going to have to give my eyes a rest. Right now I can't focus close up or in the distance.

I discovered the novel about 2 years ago and began reading on my computer at a furious rate. After approximately one year of doing this I noticed my vision began becoming blurry if I stared at my screen too long while reading. Shortly thereafter I found it almost impossible to read on my computer, because my eyes simply became too sensitive to the backlight. It's been a bit more than a year since that started happening, and I haven't recovered. I have completely stopped reading books on my computer altogether and nothing has changed when I attempt to read another one again. I can't make it pass more than a dozen pages before my vision gets blurry. It almost feels like I did something permanent to my eyes.

Tell us what your mother has to say about this, because it is somewhat troubling not to know why our eyes are doing this. It's hard for me to believe that one year of reading on the computer did more damage to my eyes than more than 10 years of being on the computer day and night doing other things. I'm surprised your vision has become blurry from just gaming for long periods during a week!

You got it. I will have her read this and you will get a personal reply from her here on OCN on Saturday March 5th when I go to see her. Well my case is that I am far sighted. So I have to concentrate twice as hard to read text. I hosted a LAN party and it was 36 hours straight gaming and my eyes were fried I could read a word anything lower than a 36 size font. About 2 weeks ago my mom had me go get my eyes checked out at her store, they put drops in my eyes to relax the pupils so you cannot concentrate your eyes at all and they can get an accurate reading and testing. The drops lasted for 4 hours. Everything was blurry, I had my browser at a 300% zoom. I will let my mother know about it and she can tell us. I have a notification on my phone to go off to let her know so I will not forget. Best thing to do flinn is to go get your eyes check out, you sound like you need a good pair of reading glasses or computer glasses.
