Only two companies do for S-IPS, everybody just buys panels from them to use it in their line of LCD's. Just kind of like how PSU's are.

I just hate philips and will never buy a product of theirs, the panel they use might be great but the other components are garbage. Thats a great chart by the way, who makes Dells panels?
Apple uses/used LG Philips panels for many years. Does that make you feel any better? My point is to tout their trust in stable and proven technology, and since Apple installed LG Philips panels in their Cinema displays, you should have no problem with LG Philips.

LG owns and makes IPS panels, and yes they made e-IPS for the Dells.

I never bought Philips before, if they are that bad then why didn't they go out of business yet?

Actually, e-IPS is derived from S-IPS (though not in such a significant way as H-IPS is) so it has near-equal image quality as normal S-IPS.

Although it is not as good as S-IPS.

Ya i love LG, their TV's are priced great and have awesome picture and build quality. As far as Philips still being around people just love to buy cheap. If you notice though Philips isn't in the consumer TV market as much as they use to be when tubes were king.

In what way exactly? From what I've read each IPS format has it's own strengths/weaknesses but you could easily make the case that e-IPS is actually the best performer overall.

e-IPS is just a slightly more cost efficient revision to S-IPS with better light transmission/filtering, requiring fewer backlights. That said, it also offers the fastest response time and lowest input lag of all current IPS formats, while maintaining good black levels (with little bleeding), excellent color stability on and off angles, and can be calibrated to have near perfect color accuracy.

Samsung still makes a few VA panels (like the 2333T, which has a 4000:1 contrast ratio) along with BenQ having 4 new VA panels (EW2420 EW2430 VW2420 and BL2400) with 3000:1 contrast ratios.

Well of course they have faster response times THEY ONLY HAVE 262K COLOURS TO GO THROUGH! and colour accuracy hardly matters when you don't even get the full 16.7million colours of RGB...
