Right now I have a powercolor 5770, and my choices are to get another and crossfire or get something like a 6870. So basically I want to know whats better, 2x5770 or 1 6870.

Skip the 6870 and get the Newegg Shellshocker, 5870 2GB E6 for 180. It's time limited so check the online deals forum asap.

I think x2 5770 is around the same performance of a 6870, I would suggest getting the 6870 though and xfiring that later on.
The above suggestion is also a good idea its $199.00 with the $20.00 mail in rebate brings it to $179.00

I chose 2 5850s in crossfire and frankly I've regreted it to this day.

I don't know how SLI is doing these days but Crossfire is WAY MORE TROUBLE THAN IT'S WORTH IMHO.

Next time around I'm going back to Nvidia and just one good card.

well I ordered the 5870 2gb for 200$, I saw the price went up 80$ over night so I glad I got that order in. But now I am wondering how it will look on vga monitor. I got the vga-dvi converter so I am waiting (Not really) for this beast to arrive.

2x 5770 gave me 24000 gpu score in 3dmark vantage on default settings. One 6770 give me 21000. One card = less noise and more stable fps

Next thing to do is upgrade your monitor, then get 2 more.
