SSD Optimization Question

Thread Starter
Within the next couple hours i plan to reinstall windows on my setup now that i have my 2TB hard drive. I plan on reinstalling windows and doing the following two immediately after installation. First i will be doing the Windows 7 Tweaks and Optimizations and then i will also be doing Setup SSD boot drive with secondary Hard disc optimization. After i finish with these two guides are there any other items i should follow? My SSD will be for windows files only/motherboard drivers, then everything else on my 300GB raptor and my 2TB will be for music and video storage. By the way i am using a Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV125-S2, dont know if this matters or not.

Men, I didn't do even 10% of those things. Not that they wouldn't be useful, but it seems most advices are in order to limit writes - I put some faith in the advices on anadtech.com (the first that documented the block rewrite penalty) and they use a math formula to show that in normal use one can't possibly burn thru an SSD's available write cycles in less than 10 years.

Imho I would do just this:
*install Win 7 (its setup takes care of most tweaks like TRIM enabling, etc)
*install mobo drivers (optional imho, others may disagree)
*move temp, temporary internet files and firefox/chrome cache on a HDD or a 512MB RAMDISK (my favorite since it's even faster than an SSD)
*move "Library" folders on a HDD
*disable pagefile (again some disagree with this); if at some point you get a message from Win that it needs to close apps in order to save memory - you can simply re-enable pagefile, but don't move it on the HDD as the performance penalty is important
*disable hibernation and delete hyberfil.sys

...that's my guide. It works since ~1.5 years ago on an Intel X25M 80GB (desktop/gaming) and an X25v 40GB (laptop/gaming). I am @ around 7% of 80GB's life and 10% of 40GB's. By the time any gets to 100% it'd be long swapped with a faster/bigger one.
