No thats typical. If you look at Nvidia's release history when they have hard launch at pax E.
They usually give new un-released hardware away. It has to be in the stores within a few in weeks. Or it shows up on flea-bay. I know a few people that got 480's last year for free.
Nvidia treats their users like kings. Wish I could travel, I would love to go.

UGH GOD I wanna go now.

But everyone was rumored for a late Feb. release or at least March. Not April. Thats just depressing. I have to go another month without PC gaming, and Crysis 2 is coming out.

you guys do know that amd have set there release date to march 8th on the 6990's?? tom @ oc3d.net has one but is not allowed to bench/post any pics or do a video until the 8th source and link >>

if this pans out then expect to see nvidia launch a week or 2 weeks later..

Looks interesting, I can't wait to see the benches against a 5970!

Think about it, a 4890 with double the shader power, It would have the same shader power as 4890 Crossfire. 4890 Crossfire is faster then a GTX 295.

I'm surprised that AMD hasn't copied this already to be honest.

2. These dual GPU cards run internal SLI/Crossfire so single card per clock performance doesn't meen a lot as it's all about the scaling.
Because their architecture can't support such high shader clocks.

It's sort of like how a Pentium 4 can clock to the moon (8ghz is the highest IIRC), but a Core 2 Duo can't clock as high.

My guess is that Nvidia is having problems on production ... this will be a very special card with binned chips ... and they must have X quantity so they can launch the cards...

Meh, if the prediction is correct and the 6990 launches on the 8th ... maybe... just maybe, AMD will have a good chance of having the best/most popular dual gpu card this year ... lower price, more availability ... hmmmmmmm

Let's see...
