Anyone ever use FreeNAS?

Sorry for the newb question, but I was recommended to use FreeNAS to run a file server, that's essentially what I want to do with it, to access the server over the internet to stream video/music from different devices...

Is this a good OS?

Can I run it from a USB in Live mode or as an embedded OS?

If so how?

I've used FreeNAS...it's reliable and works exactly for what you want. As far as streaming goes...it doesn't have a built in media server so as long as you're only accessing files you should be set.

How To: Install on USB

I mainly wanted to use it to stream media, rats..

Any other suggestions on a Linux Server, which isn't hard to use?
