Yeah, your right.

THis is the second time somebody has to correct me about this very same thing about AS5... Guess it's the last time I'll be making this mistake

I swear I had those names X meaning swaped in my mind ahhh it's all a big messup. I better do some research again

Thanks for correcting me

Np, but yeah, as5 is old, but still great for it's price.

I would rather grab the ones you mentioned above. Shin etsu G751 isnt that bad either. it's just applying it is a pain.

check out SVC.com should have some free shipping on TIM.

I've used silver on many video cards with no consequence. I've also put TIM on older Athlon processors without heat spreader and there has been no ill effects.

People are blowing the danger out of proportion. You don't have to worry, just try and use a small amount of paste.

Not blowing it out of proportion at all just stating the truth. You get some thermal pastes on the wrong area and you have a dead GPU. This is why people use ceramic paste on GPU's. OP if you want to do it right use this ceramic paste by Arctic Silver.

AS is decent but Shin-Etsu is better. Check out the 80-way TIM link in my sig. It's a good read.

So i ordered some more thermal paste online today i got it cause i googled around and found a site where someone benched 80 different thermal pastes to find the best ones then they graded them from A to D think of it as a report card A+ being the best and D+ being the worst. I got the Arctic Silver 5 Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Paste for $6 free shipping and on the site where i saw the thermal paste was rated an A+ it was the top second in first was the Shin-Etsu MicroSi G751 I was gonna get it to but i dont know i guess it was like mental advertising because i kept seeing the name Artic Silver 5 or AS5 its been like all week i been seeing it on the web so i went with AS5 it had the same temp reading that the Shin-Etsu MicroSi G751 had. So hopefully in a week or so i will be back on here letting you's know how well it performs but heres the 80 thermal pastes tested/benched!!

Oh i almost forgot that my current thermal paste i just got like 3 days ago got a rating of C- and i paid $13.99 from tigerdirect.com what gives im buying something that is waaaay better by far and its waaaay its cheaper less then double the amount i paid for the crappy ULTRA thermal paste.....

Hmmmmm.... WIERD

Buy AS5 thermal paste with an A+ rating for only $6 or waste your money and spend more then double on the ULTRA thermal paste that got a rating of a C+ hmmmmm Let me think about this one LoOoL!! Again i made the same mistake i did last time and forgot to look around first before buying oh well atleast it was only a couple bucks :-)

AS5 isn't bad if you have 8 and a half days to kill before you need to overclock.

Shoulda got Shin-Etsu G751. It's carried under the Mass Cool branding @ Newegg for $5. of course it's only .5 gram, but that's more than enough to do the CPU and GPU. I had enough to do the CPU twice and the GPU as well as redo the TIM on my NB/SB sinks. And it cures in ~8 hours. ~8 hours >>> 8.5 days.

You can get it cheaper from Performance-PCs and can also get their X23 which is more expensive but you get more paste than you do G751 also ~8hrs cure time but comes in a close 2nd to the top 5 on that list.

So i got this Ultra Premium crap that i told you guys i had just bought 3 or 4 days ago and it didnt come with any kind of instructions i mean im not new to TIM but still to have info on it when you buy something would be nice ya know and i dont even know if it has a cure time or not i dont think it does but just in case right now as we speak im on here posting while im listening to AOL radio and im also running AIDA64 Extreme stability stress test and my cpu is at 100% no down throttling at all its steady at 100% usage so im gonna leave it here turned on for a day or so to see what happens right now im down clocked on my cpu from where i usually have it clocked but its still overclocked from its original speed im at 3.9Ghz @1.39v and right now the temp on the cpu is at 55c/58c while on full load not to shabby i gues but when i had my old TIM i was at 4.6Ghz and my cpu wouldnt go over 45c/50c when i was at full load so thats another reason why im seeing if there is a cure time on this Ultra Premium Thermal Paste!!

You're gonna run hotter than normal until that TIM cures bruh. I'd down clock it to 3.6(or stock if that's the base) to save some headroom for unespected issues that may crop up. Otherwise keep doin as you're doin. That's why it's called a burn in. Max out what you can and keep your processor under the 60c ceiling.

But hey on a side note, you found the 80way comparison and looked at the list, but you didn't make note of the codes to the right of the brand? Off the top of my head I believe that AS5(4) is what you should see if you go back and look. That 4 is the code for the procedure and the cure time involved. I believe that 4 was nothing more than listing that it's ~200 hours which is 8.5 days. Not gettin on your case just tryin ta impart some good knowledge to a fellow Overclocker.
