for instance:AMD Phenom II X4 975 Black Edition Deneb 3.6GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Desktop Processor HDZ975FBGMBOX

seems like it should be easy to get that overclocked pretty well

For the same price as a 975 you could get a decent x6. Unless getting the 955... yeah, get an x6. SATAIII HDDs are pretty useless unless they're cheaper, but they will work the same with SATAII.

i have almost the same setup with 8 gigs and a geforce card same exact ramm though

so whats better for my setup AMD Phenom II X4 975 Black Edition Deneb 3.6GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Desktop Processor HDZ975FBGMBOX
or AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Thuban 3.3GHz, 3.7GHz Turbo 6 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor

heres my thinking. the quad core is at 3.6 ghz with only 4 cores and the x6 is at 3.7 ghz so id have the benefit of two more cores with fster speed before i even start overclocking it. am i right???

The 975, unless you're doing things like video/photo editing/encoding.

I have the m790x-ud4p and i think it is a great board. I have had my phenom II 940 to 3.9 and it holds at 3.6 24/7. With the latest bios it will support the x6 cpu.

If you are planning on overclocking, then go with the 1055T. If you're ordering off Newegg, the 125w 1055T is currently priced $20 less than the 975. Both will have no problems hitting 3.8-4ghz or higher depending on what you fancy.

On the other hand, if you're planning on strictly sticking to stock speeds, then the 975 would be a better choice as it comes at 3.6, which is higher than the turbo frequency of 3.2 on the 1055T.

Also, you will need to run the g.skill eco at 1.4 or 1.5v. 1.35 is only for intel systems ; ;
