heres my thinking. the quad core is at 3.6 ghz with only 4 cores and the x6 is at 3.7 ghz so id have the benefit of two more cores with fster speed before i even start overclocking it. am i right???
Wait for a Sandy i5-2500...

It crushes an 1100T in every bench, especially in the gaming area, and is cheaper.

You probably would've been able to find 2 2x2GB G.Skill ECO 1600 CL7-8-7 kits for the same price. Maybe cheaper. The ECOs usually overclock slightly better than equivalent Ripjaws

The 970, 975, and 1100T don't look like very good deals to me on paper. I would lean towards 955/965/1055T/1090T as the options worth parting with money for.

FFXIV wont run on that build on high, it will run on 1920x1200 with normal and a couple things 1-2 notches above normal. I have a similar build. Btw you made a good decision by getting the asus mobo, but for a reason you didn't say. The board is much higher quality so you can OC more. Also, don't get the 1100t, you can overclock the 1090t to those speeds and even faster.

i bought the asus because it was 0n sale at my local microcenter and their great reputations and the boards features. and i will take your advice. 1090t it is. how high can i go with that over 4.0ghz with a corsair h50 with pusher and puller fans? i wanna go as high as it will stabily go although 4 should be sufficient and if i run two 6850's could i play it on high? the case has great ventilation so everything will stay cool

I'm not sure how high your settings will be able to go, but since the game is primarily a single intensive thread, one way to get a higher OC that would benefit that game would be to disable 3 of the cores. Test stability of each core individually at very high clocks until you find the 3 best cores on the chip. Between producing less heat and singling out the 3 best cores, you should be able to hit higher overclocks. For many games, this will give you the best possible performance.
