laptop running at 80c okay?

I have an HP Pavilion Dv6tse with a Core i7 Q 720 and a HD 5650. There is one exhaust port in this laptop about 2.5 inches wide. When I would play Call of Duty: World at war, my temps reach up to 80c. Thats if I jack it up on coasters. Is this acceptable? Or should I buy a cooling pad?

CPU or GPU?

Either way my HP ran at 101C! for over an hour when I tried overheating it...it didn't work btw. But it usually ran ~90C when watching movies. It was a turd of an AMD ZM80 as well.

Edit: The 720QM has a threshold temp at 100C just like my AMD did.

It's probably fine.

But what temperature(s) are you talking about? CPU? GPU? Chipset? Chipset and GPU are absolutely fine at 80C. CPU--it's warm, but depending on the thermal tolerances, might be fine and within spec's.

I'm a big fan of cooling pads in general if I'm using a laptop in a relatively static location like on a desk or something, and not taking it anywhere for a couple hours or so. Anything that circulates the air beneath it will probably benefit temperatures.

Thats just the Graphics chip. I'm curious what the over all temperture is. It get uncomfortably hot to the point where I can't rest my palm on the aluminum. Its like black leather interior in arizona during the summer.

I'll get specific temps tomorrow for the Cpu and Gpu.

I am concidering on getting a cooling pad for it. How much do they run for $20-$40? Can you recommend any?
