Vega's Quad-SLI 3GB GTX580 sub-zero liquid cooled build - Page 26

Humm... The SS I've seen the QPI is 3798Mhz not 4000Mhz am I missing something? You must be right I've not seen this 1.4v spec, I'm speaking for older I7s. In my system I'm stuck to 1608Mhz 6-8-6-24 because my I7930 needs up to 1.55v (QPI/DRAM or PLL)to be somewhat stable (benchs). I really can't say a word for real life apps but my Aida64 memory scores are quite higher with more speed at RAM. I'm pretty shure you can get with this processor 4400 uncore 2200Mhz at memory with good latency (depending on your ram) and you could definitely keep it 24/7. And you know as higher you could keep the uncore at (5Ghz+) as higher performance will be. You could do 2 linx 10run 15k problem size runs at the same core clock with different uncore freqs and see the diference in gflops per run.

The QPI is 3800Mhz. You asked what uncore is, which is 4000Mhz. They are different

Yup, my four are somewhere en route over the Atlantic right about now. I love EK products. Nothing like a fine piece of machined cold hard metal in your hand.

I'm curious about your statement where you talk about having to use DVI-D port on your HP ZR30Ws with the 6970s. Is your model an older version that doesn't have display port on it? The ones I see on newegg have display port and would eliminate the Vsync + Eyefinity tearing, right?
Thread Starter
No, all ZR30w's have DP + DVI-D. In order to use 3 screens with 6970, you have to mix connection types. That is when the VSync+Eyefinity tear happens and is unavoidable. Only a MST hub or a 6990 can rectify that.

ok dont take this the wrong way, of course i love the hardware and build

but how on earth can people play multi monitor games and not be supremely annoyed with those black bar Bezels?

I mean it is really not that hard to get the screen without the borders and there are plenty of monitor mounts that could allow you to basically have seemingly continuous screen.

Initial testing of CPU/MB/RAM. Spent a crap load of time going up and down the BClock range testing all multipliers and CPU PLL voltages. Nothing really let me break free of ~4.8Ghz @ 1.45VCore. The only thing that let me up the Ghz was more VCore. 1.51V let me get 5Ghz. 1.54V let me get 5.2 Ghz. I'd imagine closing in on 1.58V would be needed for 5.5Ghz.

My setup really didn't care for low BClock, but it loves minimal CPU PLL. Setting it to its lowest voltage, 1.3V produced the most stability in IBT. I think I got a decent clock for 24/7 voltage using 14 C liquid for now:

IBT stable and memtest passed @ 844Mhz 6/6/6/18/1T 1.66V with liquid cooling. 4000Mhz NB and 211x23. Do you guys think these tight timings would be better for gaming or increase DDR3 speed to around 1070Mhz @ 8/8/8/24?
Give 'em some extra volts (~1.72V) and see if you can get them stable at 1070 7-7-7 21 or even 7-7-6 20!

Also, since you're frozen, it might be worth giving the CPU 1.5V+ for the better clocks! Are you planning on running all four 580s on this loop as well?

I might say screw it and run 1.5-1.55V for 24/7 use seeing as my temps are so low. That will get me around 5.2Ghz. I only need this CPU for less than a year anyways. If it dies, it dies lol.

All four 580s will also be in the loop. The following items will be sub-zero cooled: CPU, RAM, NB (plus connected SB and MOSFETS), four GPUs.
