Trying to get my 980X stable @ 4.41GHz *HELP*

post #1 of 8

HAI!

======================
BEFORE I START,

Couple of weeks ago, I overclocked my CPU to 4.37GHz and I was using Corsair Dominator GT 12GB of memory (6 sticks) 2000MHz, and it was about 95% stable..
But yesterday I tried to overclock higher than 4.37GHz but I couldn't
Then I decided to take out 3 memory sticks and go back to 6GB, and now here am I in this thread..
======================

I overclocked my CPU yesterday to 4411MHz but I can't get it to be stable
When I run Prime95 for about 1min my 5th core stop working but the other cores are in 100% stress level
and after I continue stressing, after another 1-2 minutes Prime95 stopped working completely "crashing".

LinX, when I start stressing, the system goes very slow and I can't get my mouse to move smoothly, when I stop LinX everything goes back to normal.
Intel Burn Test, about 4.8 minutes of maximum stressing level, I get this error

Now help me getting my CPU stable at this clocks..PLEASE!
First, I want to get it stable @ 4.41GHz, but I really wish for higher clocks (4.4 - 4.5 or more will be very great).
Im pretty sure there is something wrong with my voltages

You mite just need a little more Vcore. I need 1.525 in bios to get 4.44ghz stable. Try bumping your ram down 1 notch to the next lowest setting. Use 12x multi and see if that helps. Then bring it back. That ram runs faster at 1600mhz using 7-7-7-20-1t. I have the same stuff.

1st thing I would try is changing the Vdroop. Try without. Just change that and it mite do the trick. If not. then try 1.475, 1.4875, and if you have to 1.5v. Just watch your temps.

Thanks man, I tried to enable VDroop and lower my memory speeds to 1337 (auto) and my timings to 9-9-9-24

ran Intel Burn Test on High stressing, it passes with no freezing/blue screen

but the problem is my tempatures is a little bit high..i don't know if it's safe to stay like that 24/7?

IDLE: it's normal here, no problems

But after 8min of Prime95..i think it's too high

I noticed something with my cpu speeds
while Prime95 stressing..my speeds go down and up for no reason (?)
is that normal or it's a sign for unstable oc?

You need to keep your chip 85'C or lower while running a stress test like IBT.

At those temps, your chip will last a few weeks more.

Those temps seem awefully high. If you want higher clocks/less heat you may want to turn off Hyperthreading.
