Need a new mouse :(

Hey guys

The scroll wheel on my trusty old Razer Diamondback 3G is dying, when I'm scrolling it will randomly not scroll or scroll in the opposite direction. Taken it apart, cleaned it out, nothing helps; just seems to get worse.

This mouse has been in my possession for several years, it was the first gaming mouse I bought and I never once regretted buying it, it was perfect.

I went through Razer's ergonomic thingy on their website and apparently I use the fingertip grip (combined with the palm grip on occasion). I am right-handed. The mouse is mostly used for day-to-day browsing, but I also like to play the occasional game (racing games, GTA, and some FPS and MMORPG as well).

As it stands I'm not really into the LED lighting on mice anymore as much as I was a couple of years ago. I don't mind it, but it's not necessary. I also don't really need additional buttons, but as long as they don't interfere with my regular mouse-usage I don't mind them (the Diamondback has 4 additional buttons, they're perfectly fine).

It's a shame Razer doesn't make these Diamondbacks anymore, so I'm looking for a replacement. The size of the DB is just about right, I love holding the thing.

I spent several hours checking out Razer's website and reading reviews and these are mice that seem interesting to me:

- Razer Imperator
- Razer DeathAdder
- Razer DeathAdder Black Edition (LOVE the fact that they got rid of the glossy parts on the sides)

Right now I'm leaning towards the Imperator or DeathAdder BE. Other suggestions are always welcome though.

Price is not really an issue I'm concerned with (I'll limit myself to about $80 though).

Thanks in advance, if you need more info just ask .

Oh man, I just got the Naga this week and man I can say that I like it way more than the DeathAdder Black. Though I do like the DA Black I like the ergonomics of the Naga. It's really good for small hands and fits very well. I did not think for one second that the Naga would be any good at all. If you get a chance to play with a Naga you should test it out. If your hands are larger you may like the DA Black a bit more. But people with smaller hands that is looking for something ergonomic I would definitely recommend the Naga even if you don't MMO game or don't use all the side buttons. This thing is comfortable as hell. The best part about the Naga is that it has DPI adjustment buttons just like the more expensive Razer Mamba.

But the DA Black is more for palm players, you said you're a fingertip player. The Naga is more of a hybrid palm mouse and it feels kind of like Diamondback & Copperhead.

If you like the DiamondBack, the DeathAdder is probably more to your liking as they're both relatively similar mice. The Imerpator is shorter and more sculpted, dare I say a very tiny bit Logitech-esque. Although, you said you were more of a finger tip type of user which normally mean shorter mice are preferred.

The Naga really doesn't seem like something I'd wanna use.

I've been paying more attention to how I grip my mouse today and noticed that I'm really somewhere in between the fingertip and palm grip. As for length, the Diamondback is a pretty long mouse, and I find its dimensions to be just about spot-on. When I compare the DB to the DeathAdder, I see that the DA is a tad wider and about the same length. It's also a tad higher, but I don't think it will be too different from what I'm used to with the DB.

I'm leaning more towards the DA right now, they actually sell it here as well. No sign of the Black one here though .

Spent a while looking up info and reviews on all options given .

I will bar all Logitech mice right here and now, they're big, they're uncomfortable, and I just generally dislike them. I figured I'd give them another chance but I still don't like them.

The Xai was also on my list but I'm keeping that as a last-resort backup. For the price, I'd expect something that looks a little more exciting than my parents' IntelliMouse Explorer. I'll admit, it has a certain level of class to it, and if they were to knock 20-30 euros off of the price I'd probably pick one up right now.

The Mionix Naos 5000, while looking like a decent mouse, really looks like a palm-only mouse. It looks like if you were to stray a bit from a full-on palm grip, the mouse would become a nightmare to hold. The fact that it's hard to get out here and costs over €20 more than a DeathAdder don't help.

As for the Cyborg mice, I really don't like those. While they may be top of the line when it comes to customizing them, I really hate their looks and I can't believe they would sit comfortably in my hand.

As for the latest 2 comments saying to go with the DeathAdder; does the Black Edition have the "phillips fail eye sensor"?

As for the DeathAdder Black Edition, I would be buying this straight from Razer seeing as it's not even out yet over here (and probably won't be for months), so I can't actually go ahead and 'feel' or test the mouse. Every review I've read/seen though has said that it pretty much fits every hand/grip, so I won't worry too much about that.

Does anyone actually own one of these? I'm wondering what to make of the new plastic finish on the top. Does it still feel somewhat like the regular rubber-y finish used on for example the DiamondBack? I hope it feels similar, but lasts longer / is stronger. The finish on my current mouse is starting to wear off and there's a hole in it as well which doesn't look particularly nice.

I could of course pick up a regular DB, but I'm growing pretty tired with the glossy sides on the DiamondBack, so I'd rather not have those on my new mouse.

Sorry for all the questions guys, I'm on sort of a tight budget right now and I'll be bummed if I buy something I'll rarely use due to some issues like my Lycosa again. Should've just bought another Saitek Eclipse II again like I probably will now.
