GTX 580 vs GTX 295 SLI - Page 14

@OP - you've already made up your mind, just go with what you want. No one will persuade one way or another, so I'm not sure why you keep asking for people's opinions when clearly they are irrelevant.

If the card does scale badly ( like many are telling you it will ), then just sell the cards and get something else like a 570 to hold you over 'till Kepler.

He thinks he's getting it for 60 EUR, he is BIDDING on the card, and he and his buddies are outbidding someone else. The price is at 54 EUR now, with 1 Day - 9 hours to go, and I guarantee the auction will close much higher than what he thinks. There's no way the seller is gonna let it go for that cheap, unless of course there's something wrong with the card.

Karma will probably come back to bite him, and the seller will get one of his "buddies" to bid on the card to raise the price in the last few minutes.

The seller´s minimum price is 49$
He said he just wanted to get rid of it the description and himself say brandnew not even out of the box.

My buddies intimidated the first bidder by going high and canceling the bid then I bid 50 cent and the sig says 50 cent increase no matter how much you bid.

And I get a 50-60 dollar 295 xD

Also Iwould love to have this one answerd

AA and Microstuttering is a valid factor and I add power consumption.
It would be cool if you could show pictures or vids that would verify the suvereness of MS,scaling issues and loss off AA 295 Quad creates.

The only thing enticing me is 60$ second 295

Quoted for future reference. We keep telling you what you're doing is highly un-ethical and most likely in breach of eBay rules.

First off all that is complete nonsense.
Always prove your sources don´t just write anything down.

Secondly DX11 is the same thing as DX10 no difference omg

03:27 the comparsion starts
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_uePDBXIxo

And the little improvements that come with it are to marginal to even consider buying a GPU that costs three times the GTX 295.
Also no games will really benefit from it until Kepler...and that is where I will get a new GPU anyway

GTX 295 Quad SLI beats every card out there no matter how high they are overclocked.
Am I the only one that doesn't see a difference between all of the DX's

I don´t really see the difference between DX10 and DX10 either.

And please do not judge me ...everybody does that on ebay it´s called being smart.
And the seller just wants to get rid of the card anyway.

1. How can you not see the difference from DX versions? I bought Metro 2033 this weekend and I was astonished when I saw the maxed graphic.

2. As mentioned earlier, why get a 4th GTX 295 (I assume you have 3 from reading the thread) when just a couple of games support it, to me that sounds like a waste unless you are into benchmarking a lot. I suppose you could wait a bit and put the money into a future rig or something else?

3. If I read this thread correctly, people said the GTX 295 was bad at higher resolutions and had scaling problems or something (approx what I remember from reading 14 pages, probably not 100% correct ) aswell as the AA thing. Then you linked a Quad SLI with resolution... wait for it.... 1680x1050 and maxed AA, it held 40 fps, really? Bump that up to 1080p and yeah...

4. I'm not a hardware guru really, I just built my 1st PC but by following advice I actually got really happy with the result and I just didn't blow the advice away with opening a thread and being biased into what I found out before I decided to open a thread. The impression I got from these 14 pages was actually that you decided to open a thread to tell us that you got a cheap 295 and wanted to say that you think it's better/almost as good as the 580.

Kung Pow:
If you REALLY DO end up getting a GTX295 for under $100, go for it. What's it going to hurt, right?

You seem to think that microstutter, and low AA isn't a problem. Plus you're buying into dead technology (DX10).

The PROBLEM with your thinking, is that you are completely obsessed with Vantage. Vantage is just a benchmark. If you're buying that second 295 to benchmark...dude have at it. 295's in Quad SLI will rape synthetic benchmarks. But that's ALL that they're good at. With microstutter, very very bad scaling, and lack of AA due to low memory, they are a VERY poor choice for gaming.

Now, is the 580 more powerful than your quad SLI? No, probably not. The biggest reason why the 580, or even the 570 is a better option...is because its a SINGLE GPU card. So you won't have microstutter, you'll be able to use massive amounts of AA (due to 1.2-1.5GB of vRAM), plus you'll get the DX11 eye candy.

You seem to think DX11 isn't that great. That's fine. I was just as ignorant 2 months ago when I had my HD4890 (which btw, is almost as powerful as your 295 due to SLI scaling). I upgraded to the GTX470 in my signature, and I can tell you first hand, DX11 is AMAZING when you actually notice it. BFBC2, DiRT2 are both absolutely STUNNING when they're maxed out. Metro is absolutely gorgeous! (even though I have to lower a few settings). And don't forget about Crysis 2, which your DX10 cards will not handle maxed out at all due to DX11.

Honestly, if you're wanting to TOY with Quad SLI, or be a benchwhore, then go for it. Heck, even if you land that second 295 on the super cheap....do it. It might just hold you over.

But seriously, I want you to really think about this question.
What do you do more? Game, or benchmark?

If you answered game:
Then go for the better single card. Such as the 570 or 580.

If you answered benchmark:
GTX295's in Quad SLI will still hold their own in every benchmark that's not DX11.
