GTX 580 vs GTX 295 SLI - Page 22

@ OP

The Quad SLI would easily do better. If you don't care about DX11, the 295s are epic. However, a single 580 is better than a single 295.

What will the consumption rate at max overclock be lol?
Thats total system consumption. Its not like the card itself is drawing that much.

I do not notice much micro stuttering and I play with V sync off so .. yea, its not that bad.

You do realize that's TOTAL power consumption right?

1 295 draws about 289 Watt, and 2 of them draw close to 600 watts by themselves.

System with GPU in FULL Stress = 463 Watts
http://www.guru3d.com/article/bfg-ge...-review-test/4

The 580 draws about 260 Watt at full load, which is LESS than the 295.

System wattage is 447 Watt which is a bit less than what you saw in that video,
different systems produce different results.
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-580-review/7

According to Guru3D the 580 is slightly more efficient than a 295.

you didn't notice much meaning there is some

after 2 cards scaling will go down the tubes even in newer cards

look at these videos you say, there in a low resolution 1650 x w/e
set that resolution to 1920x1200 or even higher since your on a 40" bravia and i bet the fps drop significantly

also on the 580vs 295's
put it so the 580 is forced dx10 bet your fps go way up and even benchmark scores

i dont care how many reps somebody has wont change my mind on the subject

once again honestly if you want best bang for your buck get another 295
or a pair of 470's and call it a day all this useless arguing is getting nowhere

its your money and noones opinions/knowledge is getting anywhere

THIS THREAD NEEDS CLOSED ITS POINTLESS

Ok this thread needs to be closed when the topic is solved.

And I just would like one person with GTX 295 Quad SLI to report their experience and if it adds up with all the extreme Micro Stuttering and scaling talk that has been spread here, thid thread will be closed.

Kung Pow, You are An Idiot. You don't deserve any further help because you are too stupid to gain any information from it. Enough of this thread. Close It. You contribute nothing to OCN so stop your nonsense.

Benchmark scores are useless for comparing gaming performance.

I have posted a video that disproves any of your stupid accusations.
So please troll somewhere else!

Also regarding the Video Memory arguement....if my VRAM should one day be insufficient ....the card will be aided by the ram ...and since I have 12 gigs 2000 Mhz DDR3 Hyper X mem I will not encounter any problems.
Again, Vantage score means nothing for how well games will run...

And lolwut @ that VRAM stuff, your RAM will aid? Sure bro, keep fighting the good fight!

The PROBLEM with your thinking, is that you are completely obsessed with Vantage. Vantage is just a benchmark. If you're buying that second 295 to benchmark...dude have at it. 295's in Quad SLI will rape synthetic benchmarks. But that's ALL that they're good at. With microstutter, very very bad scaling, and lack of AA due to low memory, they are a VERY poor choice for gaming.

But seriously, I want you to really think about this question.
What do you do more? Game, or benchmark?

If you answered game:
Then go for the better single card. Such as the 570 or 580.

If you answered benchmark:
GTX295's in Quad SLI will still hold their own in every benchmark that's not DX11.
What he said!

They were only good for benchmarking, but for normal gaming, Quad-SLI rarely works. It was either you get extremely poor scaling or extremely bad stuttering and/or graphical glitches, unless you happen to be playing one of the few games out there that can take advantage of Quad-SLI. On the other hand, 2-way SLI pretty much always works so a single 295 worked perfectly. When I had the 295s I often find myself disabling the second card and just run SLI on the 2 cores on the first card, and when I saw the step-up for 480s, I jumped on it and never looked back. What's even better is that 400 and 500 series cards can hit a lot higher percent OC than 200 series.
