GTX 580 vs GTX 295 SLI - Page 4

Thread Starter
Ok...I do not wanna spend more than 400€.

GTX 580 is at most 12% better than a GTX 295 if not less.

A GTX 580 will cost me 457€ in my country.
And I can get a good deal on another GTX 295 with Water block for only 146€.
GTX 295 Quad SLI max oc will be 10% worse than GTX 580 SLI but only FPS wise..I know it does not support DX11 but I will get Kepler anyways so until then this is a far better and cleverer solutionWith good drivers there should not be any problems with AA or scalingOnly question is which games will support quad sli^^.

But what is really important right now is this question:
Since I want GTX 295 SLI watercooling I will need blocks...
I wonder if the blocks I will post a link to are able to cool 2xGTX 295 or if they are just for on card ..please take a look.

2.)I want to put the cards under water...the block says SLI so I think it will be able to cool two Single PCB cards right?or will I have to buy two of those? Please take a look at the link:http://www.aquatuning.at/product_inf...---Acetal.html

and here another brand:http://www.aquatuning.at/product_inf...X--GTX295.html
1) No you won't. The newer overclocking software like MSI Afterburner will automatically link the two GPU clocks.

2) Those waterblocks are for sandwich GTX 295 only (dual PCB). Your single PCB GTX 295 needs another waterblock. The ones you linked won't fit.

"SLI" in that context simply means that the way the fittings for the tubings are positioned on that block make it appropriate for an SLI setup.

thx for the info

Ok so the blocks specified for single PCB here:http://www.aquatuning.at/index.php/l...ath/21_348_822 are all pretty expensive...is there a difference to a random card block solution?

You might not be cooling each important component on the PCB as well. And yes it's known around here that those sandwich blocks are cheaper.

So I was checking the net for a GTX 295 with Waterblock under 160€ ...found a few on ebay but they looked pretty messed up.

Can you guys maybe recommend a retailer or platfrom where I can find a good GTX 295 not too much used with a waterblock (Nickel would be perfect)...for 160€/221$??

I live in Austria/Europe btw

why do you think a GTX295 in quad SLI + OC will only be 10% less powerfull then a GTX580SLI ? lol

1 580 is also stronger then a 295 in more then 12%

the 480 is slower then the 580 in minimum 15-20% and a GTX480 is faster then a GTX295 SLI

and quad SLI scale like crap

if you are lucky a GTX295 QUAD SLI will be around 20-25% stronger then a single GTX580 for really its 4 cores you sound like you scale them at 100%

also I dont want to even think about how much problems you would run into with 4 gpus... micro stutter and such...

lol back at you?^^

GTX 480 = GTX 295.

Yes 580 is 10-12% faster than a 295 but for me it is either getting a second GTX 295 or single 580 until Kepler and for that low price the decision is clear And quad SLI scaling of 295 will be great with the drivers we got right now

so can someone recommend platform or reseller that sell a good not too much used GTX 295 with water block for max 160€/221$?

Dont waste your money with the gtx295. They are much better for low resolution. They have low memory/bandwidth and having two in SLI is just plain stupid. They are decent cards on a budget but not good for any current games.

People who are saying that the gtx295=gtx480 are plain retarded. GTX480 can max out crysis, a single gtx295 cannot, not even close. Stop spreading ur ignorance unless you had a gtx295 and eventually got a gtx480 like i have. The gtx295 plain sucks at 1920x1080 resolutions.
