GTX 580 vs GTX 295 SLI - Page 7

You are pretty confident...want to see your "EPIC" 295's against 4 580's? You may have a powerful system. But bottom line is this:

1) Your wasting energy running a dual-gpu card that performs on par/less then a 580/570, especially considering the extra stress of DX11, with a single chip.

2) Quad-SLI scales horribly, but 5XX scaling is still better.

3) Your basing DX10 vs DX11 on a benchmark. Go look at AVP in DX11, or the Stone Giant.

4) No matter how many cards you have, you still have less overall memory then nearly ANY current card, even entry-level. (You don't have 1,792Mb, each GPU can only access 896Mb of that.) I have more VRAM then you.

You might have more Vram than me but that stands in no relation to our performance difference.

Like I said before the scaling arguement is antiqued.
With current drivers a Quad SLI GTX 295 Setup will have no problems with scaling,AA or Microstuttering.

And to repeat myself again..DX11 has absolutely no difference to DX10...there may be some improvements but they are just to marginal to even consider buying a card that costs 4 times more and won´t provide the same power.

The only arguement I have to agree with is the power consumption.
Yes the power consumption will be huge and that is a factor that still leaves me undecided.

But the price, performance and overall gain is just impossible to overlook.
GTX 295 Quad SLI will just have more performance than a GTX 580 will ever have no matter how high it is overclocked and that at stock clocks.
If I max overclock the Quad SLI System it is untouchable ...no card out there is fast enough.

And the DX11 factor is just stupid and redundant considering the power a Quad SLI setup will bring ..espeacially for that price.

Check out my #58 the videos will explain it to you further;)

Grammar nazi. Your like somebody who states they have the BEST i7 out there, and WILL NOT budge, no matter how many bar graphs or common sense is thrown his/her way.

Yes, Quad-SLI is powerful. But it is easily beaten these days.

Have fun with your Quad SLI. The single GTX580 will provide a better gaming experience though. You can have all the power in the world, but if the software physically won't allow it (drivers, and SLI scaling)...then it doesn't matter.

You're wasting money by going with anything more than 2 cards in SLI, unless you have some sort of MONSTROUS resolution. And even if you do, GTX295's in quad SLI isn't the way to get performance either.

First off you didn´t do a grammar error what you did was far worsexD

Look it is all about money!

I wanna save money and still have performance.
And the best way to do that is Quad SLI.
No card out there not the GTX 580 or even the 590 is able to touch the performance of a 295 QUAD SLI system.

Pl don´t make me repeat myself every new site...AA,Scaling aand MS is no problem due to new drivers!!!!!!!!!!!
And compatibility also is no problem because every game that supports SLI automatically supports Quad SLI!!!!

The only thing I have been asking you people to help me with for 3 sites is to recommend sites platforms and online shops that sell used 295 chips with a waterblock for a max 160€/221$.

Please just concentrate on that:)

590 is not even out and you have the nerve to say its inferior. Gonna have to concur with you though, 1 580 won't beat 295 Quad but 2 will decimate it. The 580 is more expensive because its the NEWER and BETTER card.

In terms of performance:
580 = 5970
295 = 5870

Think about what your saying. Quad SLI has the worst scaling. Your acting like it'll give you quadruple the performance. 295 will NEVER EVER be able to hang with a 580.

Well,i think 1 580 is way way more smoother than 295 Quad-SLI.

My god could you please read before you post?

It is about the money!!!!
Putting the price in consideration buying a used GTX 295 for 100$ to go Quad SLI is far more lucrative than buying an overpriced card like the 580 for four times the money which´s only advantage is DX11.
And like I said before DX11 is no improvement at all it is the same as DX10.

And for the 100th time!!!!!!!!!
These stupid arguements that QUAD SLI 295 has scaling probelms,AA and Micro stuttering issues is antique...those problems accured 2 years ago.

Now with new drivers and Windows 7 these issues have become nullified.
Pl post if you are sure that what you are saying actually makes sense.

Also you are wrong about the performance level of a 295.
It rather equals a 480.

And omg please stop trying to argue with facts!!
And just help me find a good used 295 with a waterblock.
