P67 Questions!

Thread Starter
About to pull the trigger on a 2600k + p67 mobo.

The question i have is should i wait for the B3 versions of the board, or to hell with the sata problem and buy it anyway

Not read to much about the problem or how it affects things - what would happen 'potentially' if i was to use one of the infected ports for example?

ALSO: Any other decent MATX boards out there apart from the Asus range?

Fixed boards are being shipped now just wait.
As far as which board to pick up most of the Asus boards are good. It really boils down to if you want to crossfire or sli in the future. For me the best buy was the p67 pro.

Forget the sata problem and buy now, I'm not even using the faulty sata ports on my mobo, and then in the future you can decide if you want to replace it or not haha.

Why do u want to buy something that u will have to return back in less than 3 months since asus will only replace defective p67 motherboard with no charge till juin or something. Imo just wait like 2-4 weeks and get a newest on with b3 chip, asus has started shipping the fixed chipset one already this week.

I'm currently waiting on my B2 P67 mobo to arrive. It has 4 SATA III ports. If I never need more than those four, then why worry about replacing it?

Just depends on your setup. If youre only going to be using 4 or less sata ports over the lifetime of this build then buy now. Really you can get away with 5 if you put the DVD/Bluray drive on one of the Sata3 ports. If youll need more, wait for the new boards.

I'm wondering if the motherboard manufacturers will be making any additional changes on their boards beyond the P67 chipset. Good opportunity to correct any small flaws on the boards.
