[Toms] The Intel Core i7-990X Extreme Edition Processor Review - Page 4

Putting this in a gaming rig would be like putting a big block in a minitruck. Pointless performance but fun playing around with.

Why won't Toms let anyone sign up for their draw. Stupid Canadians can't enter crap....rawr!

doesn't this thing have a better silicon in its die too? longer lifespan may be worth the extra if heavy computing is done 24/7

I wouldnt get that 990X, the price for the performance is just crap compared to the 2600K.

$329 vs $999. = 1fps more.
and in most test's the 2600K was on top.

Sorry to single you out here, but do most of you assume that EE processors are geared towards gaming? Because you're very, very wrong.

What would you use that EE cpu for that would warrant the extra cost of $550 over the 2600k?

As striking as it may be, there are other uses for computers besides gaming. You guys kill me sometimes.

Half agree..... Id be more than willing to put up with a 2600k and be a little more patient in multitasking apps. The $600 difference in price is just not worth the measly increase in speed. I accept to some it is worth it but for me no way pedro not on your life.... 90% of people who buy this are doing so simply for the epeen
