GTX 295 Quad SLI on water

Thread Starter
I have a GTX 295 and would like to get another one cheap...because it will provide the same power as GTX 580 SLI for much less money.

Here my problems:

1.)The 295 I have now is the Single PCB version and has no Voltage controller...that is why I can only overclock it to (712/1512/1215)because the voltage cannot be modded.

Now I wanted the new one to be Dual PCB so it would have a Voltage controller and enable me to overclock the card further.
But I heard in another forum that it wasn´t possible to run on card at higher clocks than the other in SLI because the card that is higher clocked will downclock to the other one automatically.

So my question:is it true that I can´t run one card with higher clocks in 295 SLI?

2.)I wanted to put them under water...that is why I looked for some blocks...1 block for the PCB version costs 112€ ?oO
So I looked for a SLI block...I am not sure if two cards can be installed and cooled with those so pl take a look:

and here another brand:http://www.aquatuning.at/product_inf...X--GTX295.html

1) When 2 cards are in SLI, they must run at the same clock. So, you cannot run one card with higher clocks than the other.

As for GTX295, a pair of them will only perform similar to a single GTX580.

(1920x1200, driver at the time of the release of the card)
Guru3d: Crysis Warhead
GTX 295 Quad SLI : 58 (ave)
GTX 580: 62 (ave)

Tweaktown: Far Cry 2
GTX 295 Quad SLI: 168 (ave), 83 (min)
GTX 580: 166 (ave), 82 (min)

Xbitslab: Crysis Warhead
GTX 295 Quad SLI: 46 (ave), 23 (min)
GTX 580: 39 (ave), 30 (min)

Xbitslab: Far Cry 2
GTX 295 Quad SLI: 95 (ave), 60 (min)
GTX 580: 110 (ave), 82 (min)

These are numbers with no overclocking. And I am fairly certain that a single GTX580 will overclock better than two GTX295s, especially 1 CPU vs 4 CPUs.

2) For the 2 water blocks, the 1st link does not work.
The block in the 2nd link is for a dual-PCB GTX295.

Thx

My GTX 295 Single PCB so without Volt mod overclocked to (712/1512/1215)with no problems pic attached.

One GTX 295 alone is very close to the performance of a GTX 580 already
GTX 295 Quad SLI will come into 5-7 FPS range of 580 SLI but only FPS wise I know it does not support DX 11 and until Kepler it should be enough^^ especially at the low price it is available now

Waterblocks are very pricey though
I checked out ebay ...for a GTX 295 with waterblock for under 160€ could you maybe recommend a retailer or platform where I could look for one?

Well.... i think 4 gpus under 1 pc and not folding = waste. hard to find games that like sli then for 2 its almost pointless. I would recommend holding out till u get a new gpu. and no a 295 dose not come near the 580. 295 is 2 270 cores is it not ? My 285 is not 1/2 as fast as 480. and 580 is 10-15 % faster then 480. +on 580 u can overclock like a beast. the cost of cards + waterblocks = same price as 480 or 580. then u can add volts , my 480 did 850 core (700stock) hope 580 to 900-100 mhz.

gtx 480 = gtx 295 ...so the 580 is max 10% faster than a 295...and quad sli will be supported by every games that supports SLI

So can somebody recommend a site or platform that sells good GTX 295 with water block not too much used??
