ATI "file" Mod Advice?

Thread Starter
So I just got a new mobo for valentine's day and I recently built a secoundary computer with it. It's for lan partys, etc. It was a project just for fun because I built the computer using parts from my other motherboard that broke. IT has ddr2 and duo core Cpu. Nothing specail. I ran into a PROBLEM when I wanted to put in my graphics card... It didnt fit. Its completely compatible, it just physically didn't fit. It is a ATI radeon 4350 HD. The problem is the mobo is small. So the card doesn't have much room. The heatsink is bumbing into the ram.

Why I didnt buy a graphics card with a fan? I was an amature when I bought it and knew very little about computers. I took off the heat sink so it would fit just to see if it was able to work. It does, other than the fact it overheats in like 30 seconds. I am not going to buy a fan for the card, because it is possible, just not logical. I minus well just buy a new card for the price.

I was thinking about literally filing the heat sink down where it is interfearing. It isnt even the large heat sink, its the smaller one in the back keeping the large one screwed in. Its just the very edge that is runnign into the rams clip thing attaching it into the mobo. I thought it was worth a try. I dont really mind the risk, its and out of date card and I have a 5770 in my other computer.

WHAT do you think I should do?

Is my idea logical?

Go ahead with it..... just dont touch any heat pipes (if there is any, not familiar with that card) and you will be fine.

I did not quite understand how you are modding the card. But in case it does not work out or if you got the budget to buy a different card, the GTX 560 is significantly smaller and packs quite a punch.
