Looking for user data or articles on Crossfire with one card running at x16 and the other at x8.

Cheers

Less than a 3% loss of performance with 5870's if they are both in 8x mode.
Less than 5% if they are in 4x mode.

Thanks for replies guys but I have one card running at x16 and the second card running at x8.

I want to know if running the second card at x8 will hold the primary card back in anyway due to having half the bandwidth?

My motherboard runs Crossfire at x16/x16 natively when using the correct slots.

^^No. It doesn't use up 8x let alone 16x.

I don't think there is an article where a x16/x8 setup was tested, but i believe that it isn't very different from x8/x8, may be a little better...
See if this helps:

Only noticable in benches...for gaming purposes, no.

I went from x16/x16 to x16/x8/x8 with no noticable decrease in gpu performance, and a decent increase in FPS.

8 lane slots can run any card on the public market.
this small percentage difference these idiots come up with can be observed even with no changes to the physical computer system.
pci-e x1 = bottleneck
pci-e x4 = fine, yet archaic and no one would ever run this
pci-e x8 = everything else
