I'm planning on getting a new set or ram... this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231166

I wana see if i can oc my rig a little higher.. maybe to like 4.2ghz or so... you think is it worth it? Would i see any performance differences?

I wouldnt spend any more money on your rig, Extra ram/faster ram rarely gives you any improvement especially for games, 4 is enough. 8 is needed if you use certain programs and virtual pc type applications. Save your money or sell ur cpu/mobo/ram and just go i7 930 overclocked to 4ghz. You wont be disappointed.

Two 580's beat your 460's and you cant upgrade from were you are. Plus you have less memory etc...Its all relative. At least you have Nvidia

Cant wait for Crysis 2 etc...Gonna be a good year for PC gaming

OP would not gain allmost anythig in games going from Q9550 @ 4GHZ to Ci7 9xx @ 4GHz..

CHECK CLOCK PER CLOCK COMPARISION and here's a few game benches at the bottom of the chart, but also notice that Ci7 has Turbo multiplier and that gives a edge to Ci7..

Now when both CPU's @ 4GHZ there's no TURBO multiplier involved and difference would be even less..

For encoding Ci7 is a much better chip than Q9550/Q9650 but not in gaming..

If OP want's to upgrade then he has only one valid option and that is SandyBridge..

CHEERS..

This is the same reply i gave you from your q9550 @ 4ghz bottleneck post.

i was in the same boat, It will not bottleneck a single GTX 580 but i was force to upgrade my Q9550 @ 4ghz when i went SLI and saw that anyone with a I5 or i7 (i920/950/850/760 etc)stock speed were getting MUCH better score and higher FPS with SLI GTX 570. I tried everything and posted a few question about it. After upgrading to a 2600k (2500k would be the same) it was like i actually did a videocard upgrade. i went in metro2033 benchamark SLI from 47fps to 84fps same drivers. 3dmark from 33k to 54k, heaven from 103fps-126fps. In games the minimum FPS is much higher cause in places i was getting big slowdown, NOW is butters smooth at a cap 60fps. Also i kind of hate the lga775 mobo because DDR2 are way to expensive now and days.

So if you are planning on going SLi you might aswell upgrade. If not, keep your setup.

Edit: i just read your problem with BC2, and i can tell you that in SLI gtx 580 i was still having slowdown in BC. I even posted this here but all those slowdown went away when i upgraded to a 2600k. Now everything is cap at 60fps with vsync on and HBAO on with 16X AA. Before i was force to run the game without AA to get a smooth FPS and this is with GTX 580 SLI.
