ASUS M4A77TD question (memory)

Thread Starter
So I got my MOBO today along with my CPU, and had a look in the owners manual and noticed that the owners manual has specific brands and part #'s of memory listed for specific speeds of DDR3 (1333,1600,1800). Is this recommended or required?

Next question. can someone explain to me what CAS is in comparison to Mhz of ram? For instance I was reading in another thread that 1333 CAS9 is faster than 1600 CAS7?

Last question, If i buy 3 sticks of 1600 can the 3rd stick be run as a single or do I HAVE to double up?

Thanks in advance.

1333 CL9 faster than 1600 CL7!??
Other way around there
Better = higher speed, lower timings
