Memory for i7 2600k

Hey, i was thinking of upgrading my hardware now as sandy bridge is comming out here in Norway in march, but im not sure at all what RAM to choose.

Basicly i am going to overclock it, even tho i am not THAT good of a overclocker, but i still want some good speeds out of the cpu so the question if what ram to choose.

Im then thinking 6gb vs 8gb, and 1600 vs 2000mhz.

Im going to get a ASUS P8P67 DELUXE MB, then i7 2600k since i do a little tiny bit of movie edition, (tho i still get decent peformance with 4gb ram) Then a 1000W 80A CM psu, and a HD70 cooler, guess ill get an ssd when they become a little cheaper.

So ye if any 1 cud recommend some ram for me it had been great, keep in mind i want it to be stable fast, and overclock well whitout me doing all kinds of adjustments smile.gif

I would link you some ram but you are in Norway so that would do you no good. Your going to have to get dual channel ram, and I have never seen a dual channel 6gb kit. Your best bet is to get either a 4gb or 8gb dual channel kit rated at 1600 speeds with as low of a CL and recommend voltage you can find.

Here is an example but I doubt they ship to Norway - link

Get cheap stuff. Ram speed has little to no effect on real world performance.

Great ram, bit pricey but great ram.

umm, maybe not for the average user (browsing/gaming), but there is definitely a "real world" difference in certain applications

any 2133 8gb memory
creative x-fi or asus xonar sound card because onboard asus p8p67 sound is not enjoyable.
850w psu or lower for air cooling and sli or crossfire
1000w above for water cooling and sli or crossfire
just an opinion of my own

Soundcard is not needed since i just need something to transmit the signal to my HI-FI applifier that my Sennheiser PC360 goes true smile.gif The sound is 100x times better then any creative soundcard.

And well i want the psu to handle big A, since im wainting for some new nvidia cards that im guessing is going to take a lot of power for sli in like 2 years or so.

Anyways, the question is about the ram and im so unsure what to take. Is there any ram for the new 2600k? im guessing it dosent mather. Tho with dual channel you mean like 8gb ram on 2 slots right ?

Tho im wondering if theise "cheap" ram will work well with overclocking the cpu: CORSAIR 8GB DDR3 XMS3 INTEL I5/I7 PC12800 1600MHZ (2X4GB)

actually, no, there is little performance gained for the price paid.
