You can still run SLI without an SLI cable .

IRQ Not Equal To Or Less Than blue screens are generally a hardware issue. Usually CPU, RAM, or northbridge. It sounds to me like a piece of hardware is actually faulty, or its not getting quite enough voltage to the NB to run both cards.

i had am issue like this before...my sli bridge was funky...it would either flicker lots of colors or just stay black...no sli bridge fixed it, but then a new one fixed it some more...this could be your issue...

shame you cant open it, all you have to do to diagnose is touch your sli bridge while it's on and see if it comes alive or flickers

Yeah but that hack isn't "official" right? Not sure how easy it would be to do either. If it's another piece of hardware what do you think? I'm looking at the RAM. Maybe testing it through memtest? But it doesn't exactly make sense why that would act up only when he tries to enable SLI. That IRQ thing makes me think something with the BIOS. But, I got only one SLI mobo experience to speak from and it was a while ago.

UPDATE:

So at the moment I have 2 GTX460's in device manager, one being disabled. Both drivers are up to date.

I'll call them A and B. When B enabled and A disabled, all works fine. With B enabled and A disabled, it says all is working fine, but I have no nvidia control panel and all is in lowest resolution. When B is enabled and I enable A, all crashes with a "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error.

On the first attachment, A is enabled, B disabled
On the second attachment A is disabled, B enabled
Left one being B, Right one is A.
You said you had the latest drivers installed. 258.96 are NOT the latest drivers.

What hack? Unplugging the SLI bridge isn't a hack. You can run SLI without an SLI bridge. Even on an SLI chipset, with SLI'd GTX580's. It doesn't matter if that bridge is there or not. All it does is help the two GPU's to talk to each other a little quicker.

And I also said that its likely a hardware issue, given his BSOD code. I'm guessing a voltage needs to be bumped to allow both cards to work. I'm not too familiar with i7 builds though.

@ Shinhidora - After seeing your latest post, I have to lean back towards my initial assessment that it is a hardware problem (as others have noted). It seems like an SLI issue; and either the cards, motherboard, or bridge are to blame. I'm curious to see what prognosis the company throws your way on Monday.

By the way, since you're at stock clocks, the North Bridge (IOH) voltage should be sufficient to handle SLI.

Also, the latest NVIDIA drivers for your card are 266.58 found here...

http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-wi...ql-driver.html

And, lastly, if you're bored, you could try updating the motherboard to the latest BIOS (if you haven't already).

I had the same problem when I installed my 2nd EVGA GTS 250. I didn't know about these Realtek issues, but my audio is VIA, so never mind... I got the Blue Screens and Black Screens solved by a simple solution: disabling the frame-buffer. I don't know exactly what it is, the only thing that I know so far is that option allows the system to allocate some of your RAM to extend your GPU RAM...

That's odd... I used the nvidia detection thingy to find them :/

I got nvidia control panel, but nothing about SLI as the control panel doesn't detect the 2nd GPU :/

Going to the company in 12 hours, so expect an update in about 15-16 hours I so hope they can fix it for once and for all I'm just gonna give them my rig with windows installed and let them install everything without whiping the drive so I have to reinstall everything again

Just came back from the company, second GPU got replaced all works fine now

just one small question: for triple monitors, I'll need to disable SLI and connect 2 monitors to GPU 1 and one to GPU 2?

So glad you got it sorted out...

And they told you it couldn't be a hardware issue...

Wish I could help with your monitor setup, but I've never used 3 monitors.
