well we vote for these people, perhaps if one of the MP's introduced a bill to parliment to implement video rating standards to games then we would see R and AO rated games coming out here

If it was for PC, you could just have an American buy the game for you over steam. It would give you the "unlocked" copy. My friend sent me cash through paypal and I did this for him on L4D, he was able to enjoy all the gore and zombies he wanted

HAHA I love that ^^

A bunch of Aussie's should download the game. Record videos of themselves playing and screen shots and anonymously send them to the MP's........!! FAIL

Nutty, I don't think you're mature enough to handle extremely violent video games. You'd probably go out and kill somebody or become extremely violent after having played them.

Does it sound alright when I say it to you? Or just when your government does?

Okay... everyone take a deep breath.

Yes, we are a little "annoyed" at every second game being banned in the country because our rating system is woefully inadequate.

Some are whinging about our govt and calling for revolutions... lets get a grip.

At the end of the day...
1) its a computer game.
2) We are living in a country that allows us to complain openly about it
3) Our govt isnt sending in fighter bombers to because we complain.

The system is broken but there is a process to fix it, albeit frustrating and dragged out.

Jeeze, if New Zealand can do, Im pretty sure we can... one day.

Yay nanny state.

In Australia if a game isnt suitable for children, then no one, not even adults can play it? That seems a bit crazy.
Are violent movies/books/comics banned in Australia too?
Australian govt must think video games are for kids alone..

No...

If the rating for any game is deemed to be R +18, then it will be banned because we do not have a R+18 rating for games.

We do have a R+18 rating for every other media except games.

Under the law, if something falls outside the ratings system, then it is banned.

Its a technical failing in the legislation... that is all.

The system need to be overhauled... badly.

Its not a nanny state, welfare state or bigbrother thing... its a poorly written law that needs fixing.

Hands ups everyone that has a perfect legislative system in their country?

No-one? Well, there ya go.

I see. I hope it gets overhauled then for the sake of mature gamers!
