Sure, bash the Aussie Government because they don't think like a 13 year old American kid, that's real mature...

Piracy well come to an end soon enough...

as long as the government ban the sale of such games then piracy will flourish as we are not all children... All the government need to do is basically allow the video ratings system which is already in place for most media to encompass computer games. Right now the ratings system incorporates Television, Magazines, Videos, Porn - yes you can even actually legally make and distribute porn here if I am not mistaken...

There are tons of console players in Aussie i have a friend who lives there and he does pc game but mostly consoles and been told lots of ppl play consoles and yes.. huge piracy in their country cuz they banned too much stupid things. It's the PARENTS that needs responsiblity not the government but i guess it's their decision. They can always ask a US friend to send them the game

Nutty, I don't think you're mature enough to handle extremely violent video games. You'd probably go out and kill somebody or become extremely violent after having played them.

Does it sound alright when I say it to you? Or just when your government does?
Hmmm...

Im not defending the government.

Im however, trying to clear up the differences and misjudgements people are making.

Thats all.

Ohh about me killing a bunch of people after playing R video games... That sounds like the Australian governemnt.

Anyway, still no criminal record after playing the uncensored version of Manhunt 2.

I'm opposed to all forms of censorship that are not directly related, and limited, to personal, individual privacy.

The very idea of a content rating system at a national level is absurd to me.

Sethy666, is right though. No nation on this earth even comes close to perfect.

Whether it comes from a dictator or the perceived majority in a supposed democracy, tyranny is everywhere.

"The best satire is that which is indistinguishable from reality."
Given the state of current society, it could well be serious.

As for the link, let's look at the quote in whole:
Quote:
Someone, probably some dead guy, once said something like, "The best satire is that which is indistinguishable from reality." I'm going to have to disagree with that.
I agree with that. If a satire is indistinguishable from reality, it's pointless since you wouldn't be able to tell that it's making a point. But that's not to say that yours is indistinguishable from reality - it just came across extremely inflammatory, whether that was your intention or not. Good satire needs a little more wit, you can't just make blatant exaggerations and expect people, especially on the internet, to be able to tell it apart from trolling, flaming and just outright stupidity or ignorance, and suggesting that people who didn't get it are "gullible" (or "too stupid for satire") doesn't really reinforce your point, it just sounds like an underhanded insult, "I'm going to say whatever and if you don't think it's funny, you're [negative term]".

I fully support the ban of Mortal Kombat in Australia. It would likely be mortal to the wombat population.
