New to oc and modding pc's I have Some nice parts i came across , so i decided to go ahead and start the build of a top performing pc.

Core i7 950 at stock 3.07 ghz
Corsair DDR3 Triple channel memory at 9-9-9-24 1333mhz
GtX 460
Msi 58 Platinum
BFG 550 watt psu

I wanna run Sli was wondering if i should get another 460 card or ditch it to go with some of the newer cards like the 480 or the 5xxx series. Any recommendations for memory and video cards. Nobody i know into computers and gaming as much as i am just looking for some advice maybe some new pc friends. Im really looking into play ffxiv and being able to run it smoothly in 1080p on a 24 inch monitor.

If you want to run SLI, just go with a second 460. If you want to run a single card, replace it with a GTX 570.

If you run 950 go with nothing smaller than a 750w PSU. Especially if you plan to OC and Game with solid GPU.

750w isn't "needed" for an i7 950 OC'd and even a high end GPU. But I guess for future proofing 750 wouldn't be a bad idea.

Why don't you wait for SB and pick up a 2500K?

Motherboards will be back on the shelves by Mid-March, MSI expects theirs to hit the shelves March 7.

There's no point of going with a 950 IMO, just wait if you can.

Trust me if you have ANY asperations other than just this you will want something bigger than 500w.

I purchased my OCZ 500w PSU prior to my system. But OCZ ticked me off so I booted them from my build and got a HX850w instead. When I shut the system down to sleeve the Corsair I thought what the heck I'll toss the OCZ into the system...

...ummmmm yeah. Not. XFX says 450w minimum for my Card. But they never say that a high end board 125w CPU and RAID0 require more power. It's listed at 450w.

I put the OCZ in and the furthest I got was the BIOS. That's it wouldn't even Post.

Trust me when I tell you, get at least a 750w. Especially if you run Max settings in your games like I do. Not only is it a great investment for "future proofing" it might just save you some dough in the process.
