You're using a TV right? Fill out the sig or list the model number, etc.

I would hook it up to your cable box, dvd player, etc thru hdmi to confirm the tv works correctly. Then post your findings.

As others have said you may need drivers or something, through windows or independently from their website.. if there are any.

What the heck. No one knows the solution? Check overscan options.

just for anyone interested, problem is now sorted!

Asus website didn't have the latest ATI drivers/CCC download, went through the AMD/ATI website for the latest CCC and its now sorted, HDMI is still blured though, but I am yet to try scaling again on HDMI

Yea the 11.2 drivers work well for me and they made the overscan function easier to find. My TV on HDMI had the same issue, would have black border all around and be a bit blurry, but messing with the overscan fixed it for me.

You need to send 1920x1080 to the display and disable overscan on the display to have a sharp image.

If your display (I assume a television) does not have an underscan, overscan, full pixel, or 1:1 option, it will not be possible to get a sharp image over HDMI. Using overscan correction in the drivers will not produce a sharp image, it will only stop the image being cut off.

Even if you can disable overscan, many displays do not pass 4:4:4 colour. This means that black & white text will be sharp but coloured text, eg red lettering on black will be blurred.

If you have a "game" or "PC" mode/label for the inputs, on some displays it might kick it into displaying 4:4:4 - it will with Sony and Samsung televisions for example, but it is not guaranteed, and many such as Panasonic are 4:2:2 only.
