Jumped on the $180 5870 2GB

now I need something to justify keeping it!

The only game I really play is starcraft which I keep on low as it's easier to make sense of everything. Obviously TES V will be worth having some power for, but buying a card 8 months in advance seems a bit silly. What kind of eyecandy is out there that'll give me a reason to keep and appreciate this beast?

Just Cause 2, Napoleon Total War / Shogun 2 Total War, Metro 2033, Mafia II, Crysis 2, and Civ V are some relatively intensive games you could try your hand at

thx for the recommendations!

I played Civ V back when I had 2x4850 1GB cards and wasn't too happy in how they handled it. One game takes an entire weekend so maybe just a short game lol

I'm far too opposed to paying the absurdly high cost of displayport for this to happen. (wasn't this supposed to make monitors cheaper?) Also it has 6 outputs not 3 so I'd need to get 5 more monitors ^_^

All that and you drive from that view? Would not inside car view be more realistic with that set up?

Mmmm? I'm not sure it makes monitors less expensive, and in fact I'm pretty sure it makes the card less expensive. It has a 6 outputs, but you don't have to use all six obviously? I'm not sure why you're negative over just using 3...??

That's my 6 year old playing. What's "all that" supposed to mean?

Well you could always get a higher resolution monitor. For example, the u2711 from dell is a fantastic 27 inch monitor and has a resolution of 2560x1440. Your 5870 would be able to play most games at max on that but some (such as crysis) would certainly put a strain on it. Plus it will look absurdly goo (my friend has one). u2711's cost about $1,000 but you can find them online for under $800. Pricey but trust me the picture quality is worth it.
