was being slightly sarcastic about using 6. I'll probably end up getting three next time a good deal pops up.

oh and what did you up grade from?

thanks
Thing has maxed out everything I've thrown at it so far with the exception of the uningine heaven benchmark. Also the fan squeals when it revs up so I'd like to know if that's an isolated incident or not.

In the past I've had 2x4850 1gb, a 5770, and a 5850, but all those I ended up ebaying after a while. I had been using a GT240 which is actually a wonderful little card for it's cost and power requirements. Played SCII no problem on medium settings and had enough heft for day to day use.

Your 5870 would be able to play most games at max on that but some (such as crysis) would certainly put a strain on it. Plus it will look absurdly goo (my friend has one). u2711's cost about $1,000 but you can find them online for under $800. Pricey but trust me the picture quality is worth it.
my gf would murder me if I spent $1k on a monitor!

Solitaire/minesweeper..... Really any game you want to play should be more enjoyable knowing you can turn all the sliders up. I don't know what you had prior to the upgrade though. I know when I went from a 8800gt to a 470 I revisited a lot of my old games that I wasn't really able to max. Games such as Oblivion (with visual mods), Fallout 3, and so on. Never had an interest in playing Crysis just to see how it would run. I do spend a lot of time nowadays playing BFBC2 though. Looks nice, and fun to blow up stuff.
