Lol, the secret strategy is to gain more revenue. That's all it is. It's no secret that the 360 has a much wider player base than PS3 or PC so Crytek is just trying to appease the largest market and in turn gain more revenue. They're still a business and I don't blame them. Either way the PC is still getting a demo here soon. I don't understand why they don't release two demos for ALL the platforms because that will do nothing but help increase exposure and may help pre-order numbers. But like someone said before, they're project manager seems to be very narrow sighted.

Oh wow, i completely forgot this was coming out and i'm pretty sure my new cards going to be here that day. I don't care if its "consolized" or whatever.. It's still a badass game, and it's tons of fun. I like the art style better than the first one, I wouldn't say one looks better than the other, Crysis 2 has better animations I think.

Just because the 360 has a wider player base doesnt mean that it has to be an exclusive demo for how long rather than just be on PC and PS3 at the same time. I dont see how it effects revenue.

I agree that they should release the demos at the same time on all three platforms, but releasing a demo on one platform is cheaper and releasing it on a platform with a wider player base gives it maximum exposure. 360 players never got to play the first Crysis and Crytek is trying to make sure that this game sells like hot cakes. The original Crysis already has a fan base for the PC. Crytek is trying to get those COD numbers and they're not going to do that with their PC reputation alone.

true - they could never get CoD numbers with just PC alone, but to not just release it to all 3 platforms doesnt really add up especially when the demo itself didnt even work on the 360 to begin with.

Not entirely sure what their strategy is. Possibly because 360 has bigger numbers in CoD than any of the other platforms. That's what I'm guessing. Though it would be better to release on all platforms. Their marketing strategy may or may not work though.

I think the entire basis for being a 360 gamer is the thought that you get special treatment for being common

I would think logically your goal would be to appease the market you're most money is on (PC) to be assured to come to sales, and then the secondary being consoles. Perhaps this is why Im not into business that much lol
I believe crytek said themselves that the reason why so much attention is being given to nvidia for the pc version and microsoft for the xbox 360 version is simply due to the fact that they both have given crytek alot of money for aid in the project. it's nothing against the ps3 or amd itself. it's no different than every other game out there. if amd had put up cash towards crysis 2 then the game would be geared more towards the amd camp. this is nothing new at all honestly and it's just the way the industry works. ps3 could have got the demo first if they put up cash but sony didn't invest anything into it while microsoft did.

as long as consoles get the game at 30fps consistantly and the pc community gets the crysis game they have been waiting for then everyone wins. so far that seems to be the case.

The GDC starts in around 13 hours or so and I expect we will finally get the pc screenshots and required specs then. Crytek is scheduled to talk about the game and possibly show a demo.

Yup, it would be good for them to appease the market that got them famous, but look at other developers who moved to consoles, EPIC especially. Cold hard fact is there is more money to be made with consoles and it requires the least amount of work.

I have faith in Crytek though. I think this year will be a huge year for PC gaming sales. Crysis 2 will do well on PC and BF3 will definitely show that there is still millions of dollars to be made in the PC market. As long as devs keep making quality games.
