Yeah that`s true and the thing is you can`t overlock you p43 to a p45
//---------------------------------------------------
Pre` nice that are still playing BIOS instead of crysis 2!
The thing is NB`s voltage max is ???
Right, 1,25v!
If you can change it to more, then you are CHEATING!
// JK!
Other thing is i got higher clocks than you and didn`t have to CPU/NB skew.
It might help to stabilize the RAM which I wouldn`t understand...
But that the whole point about this mobo: Normaly you do this and that.
This mobo is unpredictable. That is why it`so much fun overclocking with it, you never get bored. Ok i feel sad for you Pre` cause you`ve spend to much time tweaking and testing I think i really had a luckshot with my setting and my components.
Anyway i rep`ed you up Pre`cause i respect all the hard work you did and patience you showed (And that you allways went to toilete, i you know what i mean ). A real O.C. doesn`t give up after one BSOD or one failed Prime worker. No retreat, no surender

I think by putting the clock skew on auto on my second ram channel,
i have 0 mem errors @ 9-9-9-24-110 (CL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-tRFC @ 2T) according to Windows recource monitor @ prime95 blend. and offcourse prime stable.

Next time, when i go into a bios tweak session, i try to put some lower timings/ higher fsb if possible.

I have this whole ''book'' of bios 'combinations' of this motherboard.
Its like epic stuff, that its necessary to write a manual with settings that are good / stable. Its allmost 3 to 4 pages big. a4 size on both sides

One more thing, I never, i mean... N E V E R! i will buy an other asus motherboard

i will report back

Edit:
Atleast i have better memory performance
6-6-6-6 666mhz Write 7400mb - Read 6600mb (before madness settings)
current: Write 8600mb - Read 7700mb
(allmost, estimated speed ---> i benchmarked and forgot allready before i could type them here,
now i wont do again, im too crunked)

changed title also for other people who might have issues on this motherboard, so we could give some advice maybe?? ^^

Hi folk`s

I see Pre is getting upset.....with his mobo.........
Prescott please please remember these mobo`s are not the premier overclocking boards.........by Asus........In my humble opinion a medium entry for the 755 series socket with you guessed it DDR3.......not the older ddr2 which was a selling point for me.....anyway.....I personally find the board fast enough even at stock......

If you want to clock your q6600 cpu.......find a Asus Striker formula mobo or one of its cousins......but you will pay much more than you have paid for this mobo......heck 130 canadian inc delivery for my P5P,,,,but I new it would not mimic a 300 dollar board....but in many aspects it does...it really does...

Look at the market.....if your not running a `I" series cpu and 1366 socket mobo your behind......but once again be prepared for a 300 dollar or more just for a good mobo.......then $$$$chip and let us not forget double what you paid for you ram.......................adds up to ouch

You have the pro version.....also.......nice.......And ask yourself this.......why are they showing SOLD OUT on many websites.....answer is price and proformance ........ at least with asus I think you get what you pay for ......and we paid only a little over 100 bucks....not to shabby when you think about it........I personally am happy with the mobo....even if I can`t Oc to 3.7 I am ok with a gentle 3.4...........chip and mobo will likely last longer too.....less stress on the whole works.....

@ Mr Eiht.............Get typing..............A short to the point specific guide would help a multitude of people out there......I myself was looking at utube of all places for any help...to OC this turkey.........I got nothing until I ventured/stumbled to this site and went from a 2.66-----to a stable 3.4 knowing bugger all about these boards, now I can honestly say I am a novice in training...........and reading and learning everyday it seem`s.....Its either this or sudoko, I rather play here.... something is needed for this mobo....manual wise or a instruction set of sorts.......I recognize that there are no cookie cutter settings for Ocing but as for a push in the right direction can yield results for hundreds of folk out there.....I am but one of them that has benefited from this Monumental Epic Thread.......Ive gotten positive results.....read....re-read....ask questions = results.....= faster
com-poop-utaltor....right Pre....
If I can help you in any way Mr.Eiht let me know.........I type about 40 words a minute.......

I sure after reading the above paragraphs the masses will be waiting for your first Self Taught P5Pxxx Help Guide

Sorry I have not been around.......but was working on a computer related install........OTA antenna.....and card....Free hd tv.....OOOOOOOOOO YAAAAA

Look very much forward to your responses..............

Gore.

It would be no problem for me to write a guide. But i`m not shure if it`s worth the effort.
If i put it in a thread this will be forgotten in 2-3 days. If this would be posted in the FAQ or something where it is easy-to-access and people can find it --> np!
But you can`t just post a new thread in there.
You are right about this "i-search-for-help-for-a-p43-board" in the web is useless. Nearly no where you can find something. This website imo would benefit form a "little" guide...
And pre` 1+ for gore. Asus makes wicked boards. This is a cheap one, what did you expect... Other p43 can hit 425 with the pcie-104Mhz trick around. This one can go 16MHz uber. And btw you said that your RAM isn`t in the supported RAM-list. Blame it on me and my bad help or you RAM but not on ASUS /

The Asus p5p43td - What a freaky motherboard. A cheap P43 mobo with 12-Phase power, and no cooling for Mosfets! How strange is that!

Hi all

I did see that Pre posted way back in this thread (I think to me in fact) that he did not have Ram approved by the QVL........Id be thankful that it works at all on this board.....

All of us here.....without trying to step on any toes......

We all know how finicky this board is........if it does not like a notch up or a notch down it will let you know right away........I try not to even breath in the direction of the computer case....... Just try to show it some respect and speak kindly to it when its turned on....Ha Ha finicky maybe to light a word to describe this Mobo......but when you find the sweet spot its a great overall board....

I think Pre wants to Oc that Q6600 to the absolute limit....and has realized that this is not the board to do it........even with approved QVL ram....it still wont.....Thanks to Mr.Eiht and his endless tireless efforts has given us the max FSB that it will provide......and what is stable......and for a 100 bucks brother show me better........??????

It has provided alot of fun and is still a fantastic learning experience for me anyway......I hope that asus ups the anti in the near future but I doubt it....

We may very well have the best board for the price......and that sits well with me.....

Do what Im doing Pre.......I just opened a paypal account and I am sticking 5,and 10`s in it....dont use it.......just deposit........wait 1 year.......and you will be buying a new mobo and ram....np.......and sell this...that`s my little plan......you wont even notice the money as its in little increments.

Also buy just after xmas....all the sales are on.........you will get what you want at a discount....and not even notice your ever short.....while saving the dosh........

well I`m going to watch some Hd tv.....up to 23 free channels so far........

Cheers Guys.......

If i start in 3 or 4 month a thread like "mobo caught fire" "or PC burnt down"
then you will see why ASUS did that ...

Man, my P5Q-E P45 High-end P45 board has 8-phase power. That is considered good on motherboard, and for Quad overclocking. Even 6-phase is good, like Gigabyte boards like UD3P has.. I just don't understand why Asus would use 12-Phase power on that cheap board. 12-Phase is to be considered overkill..

And it only has a 4-pin power connector... That makes it even more stupid.. Lol!

Hey guys,

About the 12 phase power design....
Its sounds real nice but, my vcore drops from 1.456v to 1.360v......
I may be talking crap but, i would expect a little less vdroop.
If i didnt drop that low, i could OVERCLOCK a lot higher..
Might need to build a custom vrm/mosfet?? cooler!

About my ''ram issues"
Again, after 2 days of gaming on 1416mhz ram, and stress testing i seemed to be 100% stable as i said in my previous post.
But again, one night i had 2x crashing pc.

When checked, its making errors again. Or my ram is ****ed,
or i might settle with have to setle with a lower ram speed.
But 1333mhz aint that bad i geuss.

(Funny that an i7 setup, can get to 15.500mb/s to 20.000mb/s speeds on that speed, i only reach like 7000mb/s.)

About the p5p43td
The mother aint that bad actually for the price.
Allot of bios options for overclocking + sexy looks on the nb heatsink

Its just that my personal experience with the motherboard is bad...
Atleast my cpu is 42% overclocked to 3.4ghz. Not bad + room to go little higher,
only the temps are getting to high.

Going for another BIOS TUNING session
Soon i just might go back into the bios, and ........ i dont even typing just feels bad.
I will go and test some more bios settings combo's...

Its allmost like a videogame, but you can't win, and there is no ending
Like u set Mr Eiht, Overclockers dont give up!!!!!!

i want some more cpu powah because allot of games cant reach max gpu usage, like max 70%, 80% because, my CPU cant give enough juice, not even at 3.4ghz....

If i ever upgrade, it will be a new CPU + Motherboard only.

As usual, i will let u guys know how the stuff goes further
(if that aint the best readle post ever made being crunked)
Funny also from the 'pre' shortcut. like pre-scotter? whats a scotter hehehe?
U know the prescott p4 chip? had it on 1.7v for 0.5 years
