Issues on Asus p5p43td - Page 3

Hi prescotter

notched up the vcore is 1.336v
notched up the Ram to 1.65 recommended for my ram in OC
and ram timings are loose 9-9-9-26 now says 1:1 in cpuz for fsb ram which is good but still at 2t and I cant see any way to 1t or rather any settings.....?

Ive turned off alot of the CPU settings ce1 and speed step........

VTT 1.25 few notches up.......

400 strap
400 fsb
8x multiplier.........Im at 3.2 with ram on auto????
Overclock Charger is On/Enabled

chipset Voltage auto

southbridge 1.5 one notch up....goes to 1.6

What the heck is auto PSI the manual is crap.....and googled but nothing

I know there is no cookie cuter settings for OC.ing but any help or a run threw for stability or a setting here or there as I think we are both testing at this point....Ive just got it about a month ago and works great just stock and stable but OC.ing is a brand new ball game....lotsa settings....for sure....
We have different Cpu`s too....highest is a 8x multiplier for me q9450 no complaints here just want to push it just a little....

Thank for your advise and any others who wish to chime in....

I hope it boots in the morning.....as anytime I OC it dosent like a cold boot....
3.2 right now while posting......no issues yet....I will stress test tonight and see if it is stable......

Having a great time in cold country.....

all the best folks

Hey Gore,

I never actually bumped to CPU VTT settings, it goes from 1.2 to 1.3.
I asked on these forums, and they said, that i only had to use the:
Vcore, NB Voltage and Ram Voltage.

There is also no option to set mem @ 1t or 2t, i beleave its always 2t.

It took me some time, but here are the bios settings i use

CPU Ratio Setting - [9x]
FSB Strap to North Bridge - [400mhz]
FSB Frequency - [378]
DRAM Frequency - [DDR3 - 1200mhz] -> Puts it @ 1260mh

Enabled these for more memory stability. Read it on the internet.
DRAM Static Read Control - [Enabled]
DRAM Dynamic Write Control - [Enabled]
DRAM Read Training - [Enabled]
DRAM Write Training - [Enabled]

MEM. OC charger - [Enabled]
Ai Clock Twister - [Light]

CPU Voltage - [1.48v] in windows -> idle: 1.46v - load: 1.368 (with Intel Burn Test)
NB Voltage - [1.25]
VTT CPU Voltage - [Auto]
SB Voltage - [1.5]
Memory Over Voltage - [1.68]

CPU Sppread Spectrum - [Disabled]
PCIE Spread Spectrum - [Disabled]
CPU Clock Skew - [Disabled]
NB Clock Skew - [Disabled]
CPU Margin Enhancement - [Performance Mode]

The max FSB i can get is 410 to 415 or something. But after that it doesnt boot/ crashes on windows boot. It doesnt matter if i loosen up memory timings it just wont do it. People online also say this motherboard has a fsb wall after 412mhz so it might be true.

So you max OC should be 8x412=3296mhz, 3,3ghz.

Hi prescotter

No joy...tried your settings and all works stock then I Oc and still works 3.2 great. I shut the machine down for a few hours and she wont boot first try....then on second try hit F1 Oc failed....... weird when the machine is warm it boots oc`ed perfect I even stress tested in oc and all was fine even the temps were good....so I shut it down and leave it off for say 4-5 hours and it just wont boot or even come close to hooking windows 7 x64......

My thoughts are its the ram G skill Ripjaw ddr3 1333...... 8-8-8-24 1.5v stock but like I said I can oc when she is warmed up and reboot and reboot no issues.....but let her cool down and she wont..........most strange......I tested each stick individually and all together with memtest......all pass? Its the cold boot that is doing it.....
The Cpu works, the vid card works, the board works......psu is 1000w so I dont think its a power issue,,,,,,,but it brings me back to the ram.......?

Your thoughts.....? I`m eager to hear.....but yes warm boot 3.2 and ram 1200mhz strap 400 fsb 400 and viola 3.2 in a warm boot scenario.......cold boot hrs later and craps out....

It truly is a mystery too me but I`m betting ram issue...........
Get back to me Prescotter Im hanging on every word....!
Its new ram....brand new.....lifetime warranty bought at new egg so I may involve them shortly.......might try 1600 mhz few dollars more but not at that stage yet....

Thanking You Kindly

Gore

I remember i got that one time too.
Sometime i was chilling and playing games, the i had to restart my pc because i installed some software. Then it just wouldnt boot. I remember i toned down my overclock a bit, or i upped the vcore(cant remember what) and it was all good..

This motherboard series seems to have some wierd ''diseases tongue.gif"
I also have problems getting my ram on 1600mhz

But for your problem i suggest:
You start a new topic with titel:
PC wont start OCed when its cold.

So other people maybe help you out.

I hoop you get it fixxed:cheers:

Hi prescotter

Ive gotten it to boot @ 3.0 with 1200mhz and a cold boot at that....applaud.gif

Vcore was to low....My max according to intel is 1.45 for q9450 so I raised
vcore+13000 in the bios......so a small measure of success.....

I will try for 3.2 cold boot in the morning I bet it will boot.....cold hypocritesmiley.png

We should work on the ram 1600mhz heck it says it will oc to that right on the motherboard........and I have ram on the QVL....made sure of that before I bought the ram so...........there be some speed to tap into ......and I want it.

So all this was not in vain....as I looked at your post for your chip and thought whats my max and I wasnt even close..........In the bios the numbers change color as you go higher......blue safe yellow warmer red hot you know as you have the same mobo........so vcore +13000 seemed to make all the difference @3.0 I will see about 3.2 first thing......morning...

All the best Prescotter

With the Ram .... it made me crazy,
I've tried 100 different settings, different voltages different timings, different fsb, different ram ratio, different fsbstrap to nb ratio.. EVERYTHING...

One time, when very high ive found a setting that would boot but it would crash @ boot or prime95 test.
So i gave up on 1600mhz ram.
My ram can run 1333mhz @ 6-6-6-16, if i go any lower in timings its not stable.

My ram aint even on the qualified vendor list, and maybe because i have 2x4gb the stress is more then 2gb strips?

And one day, when i connect my aircooling unit on my cpu cooler,
i will pump 1.55volt thruw my cpu and try to reach my max of 9x410=3699mhz aka 3.7ghz hehe ^^

Hello Prescotter

Yes Yes Yes and Yes 3.2 stable...........COLD BOOT...............lachen.gif

Temps are rising a bit to.....nothing out there but it works and seem stable though I have not tried any stress tests yet but before it would even get this far....nice and snappy now.....much quicker.....I will see if the fsb can go a little higher.....than the 400.......will see tonight when or if I have time....
So issue solved.....My hats off to you Prescotter if it was not for your post of some of your settings id still be stuck.....band.gif

I will work on the ram situation.....I hope on the weekend and ask gskill maybe fire off a email or even asus....heck its all new so why wont in go 1600mhz ?
ausus has it stamped on the mobo and gskill is on the qvl so it should go however how to do it.....I would have bought 1600mhz if I knew but it said overclock 1333 to 1600....my bad.....seeing as i am on the qvl is must somehow you`d think.....

Im running mine @ 1200mhz stock timings 8-8-8-24 wonder if I can tighten them up at this a lower speed......and lower the voltage back to stock too......

I see these boards can be a headache but its the lack of info in the manual and on the web....

I was running a p4p800 deluxe @ 3.8 for Six years with a 3.2 Prescott and sold it totally working for this setup so you can imagine Im in complete Heaven with this board and chip and 8 gigs of ram.......but going threw the learning curve.....what fun......and yes your read that right 6 years! Its still working to this day......hope this one is built that well......

I will get back to you soon and wish all the best......

I got my PCI-E frequency@105Mhz and can raise the FSB to 441Mhz (and boot and all that fancy stuff). If you like I post all my settings. The raised PCI-E helped a lot to get higher FSB. And with the FSB straped to NB @400MHz you should see an option of
14xxMHz for your RAM which is better than 1333. Mine is running @1456 without problems and i got 4x4GB which is famous for causing problems ...

Mr.Eiht

Sounds good post please.....wave2.gif
