Build for IEATFISH's Wife - Page 4

reflex approves.

I see nothing wrong.

That board won't support higher than 1333mhz, so go nuts on the timings. (maybe ECOs instead?)

Just remember that that board will not work with anything higher than an i5 7XX. i7s are off limits.

(burned 3 boards this way before i asked Zotac support about it)

Hmmm, so even though it says i7, that's a no-go? D:

And about SSDs, maybe we'll get one after the C400/Vertex 3s are all out.

Box says i7. Zotac CS says i5.

3 burned boards says i5.

The revision on newegg now is slightly different than the one i had. Same power delivery though, but with heatsinks this time. Maybe it will support i7 now.

if you don't need the wifi, i say go with the Gigabyte.

No real reason to go modular, the majority of the cables on the Antec Neo 520W would be used anyway, only leaving 1 SATA link and probably 1 Molex Link.

Absolutely nothing for a build in such a small case with little cooling. It'll run hot and create a nice little hot spot of air circulating right around the CPU and northbridge. Part of the reason I recommended a non-reference GPU to you in the first place . USB 3.0 is very moot anyway, it's only good for external hard drives that are accessed regularly as if they were internal or anything similar which requires high throughput. USB 2.0 is still good for the large majority of people.

Low latencies aren't of great importance, especially when running something like 1600 MHz or higher. It's nice, because there are small performance gains and there is a slight change in snappiness at times, but as far as actual real world performance, it's minute.

Discriminate much? I've only had 1 girl ask for a pink case when building a computer for them. The majority of women/girls I've dealt with seem to prefer a sleek black, but then again I haven't dealt with many girly girl's that are in love with pink, plus most knew the benefits of a quality case over a junky one glazed over with pink paint.

Here are some pictures of my completed build! If you can believe it, my computer is even better looking in real life. Thanks again everybody for the help!

It has been a bit of a relearning curve from my macbook, but well worth the effort. When it comes down to it many things are more customizable and streamlined, not to mention all the extra space and speed. Definitely a great build for me, and I even built it all myself (with a little guidance from Fish). And that's a Filco with Cherry MX Blues and a Razer Mamba mouse.
