Phenom IIx2 550 Unlocking

so this is my first build. i didnt know much when i built it but now i want to push it a little farther.

is there a guide for unlocking my CPU?

i tried using the AAC on my mobo but it became unstable, so im assuming i should try to do it manually

google just gives me people talking about how great it is, not how to do it

Some bioses have a core unlocker section. You can enable that, but if it doesn't you have to turn on ACC for the cores. So, if you want to unlock it to a quad, turn it on for all cores. If it's unstable (you can try a little more voltage) then try unlocking it to a triple core.

Typically you should be able to set ACC to auto to try and unlock all 4 cores. If it isn't stable with all 4 unlocked then you need to find out which core is unstable and disable that so you can at least have a tri-core.

Unlock 4 cores. Remember unlocking adds extra TDP load, so unlock but limit overclocking due to 1. stock cooler 2. unheatsinked 4+1 VRMs. It may help if you add some aftermarket CPU & VRM heatsinks.
