lets say that it need to use MAX 250w to acheive its stock clock. Some chip will do stock clock with 225w, others with more or even less but if it need more than 250w the chip is sent to another lane. In this case, garbage ... no other card use this GPU with less SP.

The chip that dont make it to the GTX580 with 512SP, ends up in the GTX570 with 480SP.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm much more versed in cpu overclocking. I had assumed that GPU vcore was standard from each manufacturer. I read a review where the vcore was bellow 1v for the dc ii and I saw 1.025 and was a little surprised.

This is the first card I really plan to give a nice bump to. I'm hoping for high 800's. Looks like I may have gotten a dud straight out of the box wink.gif I need to stop focusing on that and just enjoy the card though. It handled bc2 quite nicely...now I just need bf3 to get here to really test it out!

Any word on a fix for dual monitors? It really bothers me that is puts the thing at max clock speeds just because I plugged in a second monitor. I've actually disabled my second monitor for the first time in years frown.gif

For the asus warranty do I need to register my card with them?

Hey all,

Just came across this thread, so i signed up to say thanks to the OP for posting about his power cables. I have had a simular problem with my card being pulled down diagonally and have a funny feeling that it has caused a problem with the card, making it artifact due to the stress.

I was able to return my card and on installation notice it doing it again. Persistent as i am, i had to know if there was a fix, and there was.

Long story short, just dropping a line to say thanks, the pwoer cables were the problem! bring on BF3 now .

subscribe---I just got one and will be reading the last few pages,

What is the overall performance of this card VS other 570's? Doesnt seem to have a huge following like the msi cards (which I love) but the board looked very well designed.

DCII cards have good cooling and thus better OC potential.
Cooling is on par with MSI TFIII. It's the size that's making a difference

I love mine thus far, can get to 825Mhz so far on stock voltage, not tried overvaulting.

Hoping for 900Mhz for uber performance at a nice low voltage.

Lucky! I dont know if it was memory or gpu clocks but at 800mhz and mem at 1950 on msi AB it crashed on ugineheaven mid way. Asus set voltage on mine to 1.00v, Im thinking though with a little voltage 800 will be good

---------------

Today is my "play bf3" day at stock values to see how it does, if it doesnt hang then I will start overclocking today, but ideally I would like to wait till tomorrow so I know how this does stock first.

DO you guys find it needed to overclock the memory on a 1080 monitor? Im thinking for easier gpu clocks I should leave it alone unless big gains will come.

I've found that using actually games to test stability is much better than using Furmark, or Kombustor.

Mine needs a lot of voltage to 900Mhz score stable, 830 is realistic for me.
