What do I have to do to record Full-Size on Fraps?

Thread Starter
So my sig rig can't record games like MW2 full-size to a second HDD 'dedicated' for it? THEN WHAT CAN? 990x @ 5.0 GTX 580 Quad-Sli @ 1Ghz 16GB DDR3 2133Mhz and RAID 0 2TB SSD's?

My question is there any reason why I can't record Full-Size? What would I have to upgrade?

uhm, you must have some other issues.....
i can record mw2 perfectly fine with dual 5770s on 1920x1080 @ 91fps....

was also able to do this with a laptop "asus g73" and a 6970 in my current rig... as well as on a 920 DO with a 6970...

This may sound like an insulting question, but I think it's always best to make sure:

Under the Movies option do you have your video capture settings set to Full-size?

I don't get insulted unless someone asks questions like that a 100 time in a row, there are quite a few idiots out there who might do that, but yes. It is on Full-Size 60FPS. Hitman I do have somekind of other problem, but my GPU usage drops to like 20% when I start to record and my CPU usage never goes over 20%, MY F3 should be fast enough. I have no idea :s

your issue in fraps is the 60fps right now... max fps in mw2 is 91. try setting it up for that max "91" fps manually , this is just in case you are experiencing lag issues, non sizing related.

I wish I could max the GPU usage to 100 but it drops down to like 20% because my graphics card thinks its enough for 60FPS although its sometimes drops to 50's and stutters alot.

Usage drops down to 20% because the resulting framerate is lower than usual (due to fraps/some other bottleneck).. obviously meaning in less work for the card. Fraps record itself has no effect on the GPU usage or load.

Oh, and you need to tick 'lock framerate'.

you wont max the gpu usage with a simple game like mw2 and a recording process to be honest. the lag comes from fraps cutting your game down to 60fps

did you ever try to run it higher ?

p.s. i never had to do the locked framerate...

I still don't fully understand what it actually does.. but some people report better framerates when it's ticked.

hmm 91 / 91 fps i think it has nothing to do with framerates on a maxed out game to be honest.

at least for mw2 specific
id upload a file to youtube or such, but they are kinda big 1gb / 10-15 seconds
