Wireless Router HD Streaming

Thread Starter
Hey guys, i recently bought a Sony BDP-S570(not here yet) which i plan to connect using HDMI to my TV and upgrade my wifi router in order to stream HD 720p video from my PCs. I found this locally which FWIR would be enough TP-Link 300Mbps. Would that work? Is there a better way to do what I'm trying to? Of course i know i have to upgrade my PCs wifi card.

It depends on the amount and strength of other wireless networks in the area, the distance and the obstructions in between them. I would suggest downloading InSSIDer from metageek. It gives you the tool to see other networks power and channel. If there are other networks on the same channel you may have problems with stuttering. I have 2 wireless router acting as APs on is specifically for a WMC extender. When the AP was using the same channel as the neighbors router even though it was hardly any signal and its about 10ft apart with a bathroom between them, it would cause a dvd movie to continuously stutter. When moved to a free channel it works fine. So you need to do a site survey to see how many other networks are there and what channels they are on. If you find your having problems and you cant run a cable to it, I would suggest getting a powerline adapter. Unfortunately a good set will cost around $100.

If it's an encoded rip you should be fine.
A straight up raw dump will likely lag, stutter and drop out.

I should be ok, im sure there is not a Wireless N router around my house although I'll download inSSIDer and double check it. Thanks for the info.
