I doubt it. The light is coming from the middle of the mouse, not the side. I also believe the DPI lights are multiple LED's, which means it would change if I changed DPI and it doesn't. Oh and there's plastic between the DPI light and the sensor.

There's no way the light from the DPI counter is reaching the sensor unless they designed it to do that and they didn't.

You can see the light from where you insert the weight cartridge as well. It's from the DPI light.

Laser mice are infra-red. You can't see it. That simple.

Optical mice have the red "laser"

I know that the lasers aren't visible, but that light isn't from the DPI lights.

You're saying that I can see the DPI lights through the PCB?

They're great with RMA's. My Driving Force GT racing wheel broke a couple of months ago. They replaced it with free shipping and I got a brand new one back.

I originally bought the wheel "open box" from Future Shop ($100 down from $170), was over a year since I got it (who knows when the original owner bought it) and I lost the receipt. Still got it replaced.

The camera exaggerates it a lot (and colors it purple), but the laser is definitely emitting a red light.
Dont they have guidelines against staring into lasers?

Yes, they do.

I wonder if infrared lasers do anything to camera sensors...

It definitely isn't the light from the DPI LEDs, because those are still on on mine. They're the only thing on the mouse that lights up. And there's still no light from the bottom of the mouse like there should be, as B10HaZard has demonstrated.

They're replacing it. All they're asking for is a picture of the receipt, invoice, OR the product with the serial # in view.

Phaedrus, are the red lights on the top of the mouse on?
You can see it using a camera or cell phone.
