A bad commander in BF2 seriously hinders the ability for squads to operate effectively. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to cap back flags and the commander is in a jet as opposed to using UAV to help you.

Ok, point taken.

Although now on most servers if the Commander fights or uses air/armor, they are kicked.

How about when your trying to cap a back flag and the guy at suburbs calls in his own UAV cuss he cant find the sniper that keeps dropping him?

You say a bad Comannder hinders the team, now you suggest that if there are 6 squads that each one would have the ability to use commander assets so now your looking at 6X the chances of selfish or bad play.

I'm not saying directly port commander assets as they are in BF2 to each squad leader, that would be silly. I'm saying, move to it to them, but in a sensible, controlled way so they aren't overly abused. I'm not a game designer, I don't know what the exact implementation should be, just that it could be better than BF2.

Same reason why Call of Duty got noobed up once it went on console. I'd say over 95% of Call of Duty players now were not around when the original COD & UO x-pack came out. IW used to state that they were all about depth, realism and and large open battlefield gameplay. I still have my UO x-pack box and Gamespy says "The best of BF1942 and Call of Duty combined". Which I would agree with even as a battlefield fan first.


Console do not want complicated things, realism or a "boring" "unimportant" position like commander. They just wanna go around and "cap" people. Bang bang your dead I own you. DA DAT DA DAT! RANK UP! Unlocked Red Tiger Camo!


Commander just doesn't fit console style gaming and DICE said there only making one game. So I'd say that's one example of how the game is being dumbed down a little. DICE can use whatever excuse they want "spreading the leadership evenly" but the true Battlefield Veterans know.

Well, you "true battlefield veterans" will put down any new change, that's the issue. I've been playing since 1942 and DC, but because i'm not overly pessimistic... I guess i'm not a true veteran or hardcore gamer eh?

Well personally I got the best experience from a single commander, I didn't really get the feeling that there was spamming and lame things from it. But then again, I figured if it worked fairly nicely before, then why not have it in there again.

Honestly, things have to change. If every dev had that mentality of bringing over every single feature in a previous game, things would just seem bloated.

Either you bring back a feature, or you expand on it and make it better on the sequel. That's what I think DICE is doing with Commander. Until we get more info on how squads work there really is no reason to complain about it.

No commander mode = sadface

Comp play needs replay function so I hope it gets in there.

I wish that the arty would be reverted back to how it was in 42 or DC but thats unlikely.
