955 3.8GHz, how does this look?

Thread Starter
Good Evening, or morning or afternoon depending on when you read this.

recently overclocked this 955 to 3.8, wanted to make sure that the settings i used were ok.

also, what would you expect the lifetime of this CPU to be at this speed, or even at 4GHz?

max temp was 48C, and i think ambient was about 20C or around there. prime95 for 6 hours.

thanks in advance =D

good temps for hyper 212+, u can go for 4ghz esay, try to stay under 55c ,and thats it,u 100% safe. One advice, lower multiplier , higher bus speed ,it can help to get lower temps, try 17x 224, or something like that.

Do you have a C2 or a C3 955. If you have a C2 3.8Ghz is the max you can go.

I can see from your screenie thast you have the C3 revision which runs cooler than the C2 so you could possibly go to 3.9ghz. your temps look good considering your cooler so I think 3.9ghz is a good call. you could try keeping the same clock and slowly bringing the voltage down and testing it again and that will bring the temps down. my sig CPU works at a really low voltage compared to others and I recommend trying to match it just to see if your chip is golden good luck

You also have a nice chip the same as mine. I have been able to get 4Ghz @ 1.39v & 2.8Ghz CPU-NB with low temps.
