6950 and an unclock all the way. Less expensive. One of the best graphics card deals out there so far.

Woah so many replies and its like 50/50. I think I should just save myself $200 if the performance difference is not that much. Would you guys recommend the Asus direct cu ii or the gigabyte windforce 3x?

Considering my setup can max most games, I think a 570 will be safe.

If you want strictly 60 fps and higher with 4x AA, you will probably need a 580. When i had my single 480, Crysis was an issue getting stable 60 fps and even with SLI metro2033 doesn't run all that smoothly.

the GTX 580 is probably good enough to max out crysis singleplayer and max it out + 4x AA in multiplayer.
with my GTX 460 SLI setup, which is about equal to a GTX 580, i get avg of 49 fps in crysis GPU benchmark. when i go play the ice level, avg fps is 45 and it only drops to 30 in the cutscene when there's snow everywhere and there's the DOF effect and alien blasting the guy.
so yes, it's not overkill for a few games, but for most of the console port out there it is.
you should get it if u want to experience the upcoming Crysis 2.
don't get it if u don't play any crysis or metro 2033.
