is gtx 580 overkill for 1900x1200 gaming? - Page 4

Dont get the gtx580 especially if you never plan on going multi-monitors or 3D. One day someone will create a monitor with no bezel. This will be the day I consider it.

Look for used GTX480s online. I got mine for less than $300. When overclocked they are just as fast as stock gtx580s. You can go wrong.

So in a single monitor 1900x1200 setup, is the gtx580 overkill? Is the gtx570 good enough? There is a $200 difference between the 580 and 570, I'm just wondering if the price difference is worth it.
Where do you get a 1900x1200 monitor?

I say the 580 is perfect...especially if you have hawk eyes and like the Anti Aliasing effect at 8x or higher. 580 all the way for 1920x1200.

Edit: $200 savings wow really? If you're saving $200 to use a 570 then I'd have to say get the 570....and get an SSD.

Yes unfortunately here in Australia there is a $200 difference between the 570 and the 580

Good decision... You should be able to OC that card nicely, 900-ish I'm thinking.

I had a 470 on 1920x1080, and I wasn't satisfied with the framerates I was getting at the settings I use in Crysis and BFBC2, so I got a GTX580, which I've got overclocked to 900MHz. I feel that I've now got just the right amount of horsepower for 1920x1080 - I don't think I'd have been satisfied with a 570.
