He should get better temps, I get 66C with a 26C ambient (4.0GHz 1.26V HT). Thats with the RS240.

Hopefully he didn't keep the plastic on... lol

I doubt there would be any heat transfer there, or if there was, extremely limited. I've heard horror stories of that happening and CPUs rocketing up to 100C while just idling.

i'd think you would get alot lower temps, i have the rx360 cooling my 2600k and 2 6950's and the cpu stays quite cool (usually a c or 2 above ambient at idle)

Well you're running a Sandy Bridge which runs a lot cooler than Bloomfield. I mean you can get close to 5.0ghz with Sandy on a good after market air cooler. Try hitting 4.2ghz on air with an i7-930 and you might as well get a camera to watch the fireworks.

Sounds like you might want to try a remount. You should be getting better temps than that. At least 10C less.

ok, i've re-mounted twice and tried the pea size method. temps are the same. I feel like disassembling everything and starting all over.

Here is a pic of my set up, excuse the cabling as i'm still trying to fix this temp issue before i tidy it up.

you could just have a warmer 930 than the rest, it happens we all hope for a golden chip but it comes down to luck of the draw. what you can do is rock your case back in forth with just the pump on, dont bother powering up the whole PC and try to see if you have a big air bubble inside the radiator. if you can hear a "whoosh" sound in the radiator that means you have air in it. what may help too is dismounting the radiator and just keep moving it until you bleed all that air out. it may not give you phenomenally better temps but it will improve them and improve the overall health of your loop

welcome to the joys and frustrations of liquid cooling!

Take a razor blade and place it perpindicular across the block so you can guage the flatness of the block, it may need to be lapped. Many have reported poor quality machining on the Rasa blocks.
