1090 oc too hard for my m4a89gtd pro?

Thread Starter
hi guys, having a little problem with my 1090t while stress testing.
temps are just in check with it hitting 57C on the ihs.
issue is when i run either p95 or linx.

p95 will give a very quick bsod
linx just simply shuts my rig off. confused.gif

current settings @ 4.2ghz 1.5v
Northbridge is @ 3ghz @ 1.385v
with lcc on it goes up to 1.55v
using a rasa rs240 for my cpu.
do i need to still up my vcore/cpu-nb voltage?
thanks. smile.gif

Could be too much vcore. Mine runs 4.2 GHz at 1.468
Could be too much NB too, again, I'm at 1.32 at 2900 or so Mhz.

Lower the voltage until it becomes unstable then up one step.

All chips are different though.....

hmm. might give it a go. strange that its stable at prime @ 1.57v iirc. but temps were already @ 61C
my ambients are @ 30 +/- so it aint quite cool. lol
btw, what is your batch of your 1090?
mine is a 1018dpmw.

Get your CPU stable in Prime95 first then move on to blend stressing. Don't worry about Cpu-NB frequency right now. When you get blend stable then up the Cpu-NB frequency.

57*C is ok, just make sure that it doesn't hit 60*C.

I like my chip to stay cool. What's your stable overclock at 4.0ghz?

The difference from 4.0 - 4.2ghz is minimal and can only be shown in benching. For gaming I stay at 4.0ghz unless I have some golden chip that can run at 4.5...sandy bridge.

from what the previous owner told me
he did 1.4v @ 4.1ghz
nb @ 3ghz @ 1.4v
on a 890gpa-ud3h
issue is now i am just gunning for 4.
but i got a bsod with memory management while running linx.
0x1a iirc.
northbridge volts constant @ 1.375v @ 3ghz.
cpu was at 1.35v @ 4ghz iirc

northbridge volts constant @ 1.375v @ 3ghz.
cpu was at 1.35v @ 4ghz iirc

as what i read is when having bsod and shutting down at the same time si heat issue
and bsod is ram issue....
your ram, NB and CPU & CPU/NB are tied...so if your running high on CPU/NB and and your ram frequency is also high...likely you'll get BSOD

but if you add voltage on your ram it might solve a little on the bsod
if you OC your ram you have to put a little increase of voltage also on your NB (im no expert here but this is what i do when I OC up to 5.3Ghz)

try this link it might help as it did for me;)

northbridge volts constant @ 1.375v @ 3ghz.
cpu was at 1.35v @ 4ghz iirc

here are my settings, I have LLC on as well but qnc and c1e disabled. Maybe you can use it to work around it.

4.0ghz
20 Multiplier x 200 fsb
3000mhz CPU/NB Freq
DRAm Freq 1600mhz
HT Link 2000mhz

My timings are 8-9-8-24 1t but you could just start with 9-9-9-27

Manual CPU Voltage:
1.396875 vcore
1.381250 CPU/NB Voltage
1.65 Dram Voltage

On load linx and prime the vcore goes up to 1.45-1.46

Temps are 45-47C max on 100% load
Idle temps are 18-20c

One thing I noticed when I had my 1055t was that at 55C and over I would get bsods or lockups. Not sure if that is the same for our 1090t's.
