Time for a new PSU

Hey guys,

Well, I've just baught (well monday) a GTX275 for a physx card from someone here on OCN. I'm also going to be running a pump for my watercooling (next months upgrade) and a new GTX570 for SLi when I get the money for it.

I'm curious, I know i'm going to have to get a new PSU because my current 650w will be pushing it a bit close with all the above and my sig rig. So i'm wondering what I should get.

Basically, I was thinking of the corsair HX 1kw but that's a little much, I know you're all going to hate me but why is the Coolermaster 80+ gold 1kw PSU only £120 and is it any good?

Recommend me others and i'll have a look, I don't really want to have to replace this anytime soon

Well,

You've posted a number of PSU's but no reason as to why they are better. Also i'd like a 1kw psu, not an 850w.

You didn't say you wanted a 1000W PSU, did you? I posted 850W units because that would be fine for the system you have in mind. All those units are top of the line basically.

But as to 1000W units... the Corsair HX1000 is old, decrepit and awfully overpriced, and the Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000W is OK but not the greatest. And this is personal but I avoid Cooler Master as a brand because I don't support companies that flood the market with turds and try to make up for it with a handful of decent units.
So then:
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1000w...-12v-140mm-fan is your best bet among 1000W units that I can find in the UK (checked Scan, Overclockers and Ebuyer).
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1000w...-12v-135mm-fan is also a good product but ripple is a little higher than desirable on the +3.3 and +5V rails.

There is www.overclockers.co.uk and www.ebuyer.co.uk

Feel free to have a look on them as well, but I think i'll have to go with the silverstone one purely because it's not white.

Gtx570 and GTX275 are 220w GPU but gtx275 draws less in physx. Based on that, the number is around 740w so tech, a solid 850w unit should take care of it. If you need a 1000w unit, Corsair 1000hx just for sample) is a good start with.

True, but i'll be getting another GTX570 later on, so it'll need to be able to support that as well.

I already checked Ebuyer and Overclockers, didn't really find anything interesting.
Well -- there is http://www.ebuyer.com/product/129283
Pity the color of the NZXT unit is putting you off, it's one of the best you can get right now. There are more options you can get in the US for 1000W units but I'm a bit underwhelmed by the selection in the UK.

A solid 850w such as ax850 should be able to handle gtx570 sli and gtx75 but liked say, nothing wrong to get a 1000w.
