Strange 980x Idle Temps

Thread Starter
For the past few days when I boot up my computer and check the temperatures, RealTemp GT displays temperatures lower than the actual ambient. is this just a sensor mix up or something else. Also when I look on the onboard temperature display on the E762 it shows an FF error, what does that mean. Any input would be great. Thanks

Does it give normal load temperatures? - as long as it is giving normal load temperatures, there isn't anything to worry about with idle temps.

Yea the load temps react as if those are the actual temps, just ram prime for a bit and seems mid 30's down to high 20's are the load temps.

It's a temp bug. I remember seeing a thread where someone was claiming to get those temps on just water. Just as you are. And IIRC someone came and said that some of the sensors were faulty.

I'm not sure what the solution is though.

Pretty normal, think it's a thing with the gulftowns, I frequently see the cores idling sub-ambient but load temps still look normal.

Any input for the LED Debug FF Error? It keeps bouncing from 00 to FF.

It doesn't read temps below 0°, so will just switch to FF when it dips below.

Not normal, it's impossible to idle at sub ambient without phase or similar. Gulftown temps are great, similar to Sandy, but they still can't defy the laws of physics.

I think your sensors are a bit off, some kind of offset problem going on, it's nothing to worry about but it's a little annoying to not get reasonable guide temperatures.

It seems to be pretty normal since quite a few people see it, but you are correct that it isn't right, just a bug that seems to affect some 980x.

All the more reason not to care about what your idle temps are.

ZOMG my idle is sub-freezing!

Who cares. Idle doesn't mean anything. Lol.
