Reasons for switching are i could not find the asrock extreme4 in stock anywhere so i decided to go to my first option originally which was the p8p67 deluxe. Cyb0rg said it was a good idea so i figured i could go for that. The extra cost sucked, but i didnt want to end up with less then i needed and the pci slot layouts are supposed to be great for this board allowing crossfire with a physx card for future possibility.

I went with the sapphire 6850 because added costs restricted me on my GPU, but i'm not sure exactly how demanding of a GPU i will need anyways seeing how i will just be getting back into desktop gaming. Also these in crossfire don't seem to be that bad of a combo if i decide to upgrade in the future.

The 2600k was more of an impulse decision. I really did not want to regret not having the extra threads and cache. Although as Cyb0rg pointed out the difference is little, but nonetheless it will make this build last longer when games and programs start utilizing this technology whenever that may be.

The LCD was just a good buy at $267.67 and figured since my 65'' hitachi was only 1080i i could make the upgrade. Also it will allow me to dedicate the 40'' as my primary monitor where i can put a desk in front of for schoolwork and such. I just didn't like the idea of having to be 15'' away from the screen all the time.

Thanks for everybody's help. If you would like to comment on any decisions I dont mind. I still can return stuff! lol
Job well done. I can understand the impulse decisions... lol . What games do you play by the way? The 6850 will do fine for now and Crossfired is quite a potent little setup on the cheap should you take that route. Looking forward to build pics!

How close are you going to be sitting to that 40"? I'd love something like that

Well I'm trying to feel it out how close I will be sitting to it. It can be anywhere from 10 feet to right next to it. So i just got to find the sweet spot. I'm guessing it's going to beat sitting 16' away from a 65'' hitachi.

As far as games, I'm going to start out with starcraft because i used to love that game back in the day and expand from there. So i figured I could just expand my graphics as it's needed.

I'll make sure to post all pics of the build. The parts for it are just starting to come in now and should all be in by Wednesday at the latest besides the TV which i bought two of off the online deals here, but who knows if that deal is going to go through.

Thanks for all your help!

No problem I'll have to tear my system down in the next day or two. Replacement B3 revision P67-UD7 should be arriving compliments of Newegg

BTW, let me know how you like Star Craft...

I've read some reviews about the UD7 and that's one awesome board. Its graphics capabilities are awesome and the coolest looking of the p67's IMO.

What games do you play?

What TV did you get and where did you get it from for that cheap? I don't even think I can get a 40" that cheap taking a display model with an employee discount at the electronics store I work at...

Mainly FPS -- CoD, Bad Company 2, Crysis, Stalker, Metro 2033. GTA IV is my go to "time killer". Been playing Rift lately too.

Nice! I can see why you got the GTX 580 then. Those are some GPU heavy games. I've always been the play one game and stick with it for a while kinda guy. I think with this new build I'm going to go for some more variety and try a couple of the games you listed. GTA is CLASSIC!

GTA is more processor intensive and CoD is just a console port so its easy to run.

Lately ive just been playing BC2 and Rift.
